Hi Jabier,
I don´t think we could afford one more icon in toolbox. There are, from usability point of view, two possible but not so trivial to implement solutions:
- Implement Icon grouping on main toolbar
- Dynamically changing secondary toolbar. Similar to path tool
modes (BSpline, Spiro, Bezier etc.), but with other settings that change depending on modus.. I´m in favour of this one because there are other other tools that could benefit from this change. For example, Mash gradient and regular gradient tools could be merged. Erase could have knife (similar to a path tool with zero width), freehand erase (what we currently have) and guides slicing (the one you have proposed already). Any of those should have different options. Erase must have at least Width slider, Knife should offer an option to Crear una sucesion de segmentos rectos, segmentos paraxiales etc. I´ve copied those Spanish names from screen. :)

Thanks for the info about open path/boolean. Several "mysteries" solved by that comment :-)
I'm not sure what you mean by "toolbox pixels". Do you mean that the toolbox would need to be bigger, to make room for another icon/button?
Or is something technical that goes over my head?

Not giving a code review, but compiled and tested real and I personally think it's excellent from a UX perpective. Don't even show the options if they're not applicable rather than them being grayed out and the user not knowing why.

I recive a interesting feedback from Mark Schafer in the video coments. He point me a method to mark expandable icons. In a first review we have two options: Style the buttons diferently, probabily the border -dashed- on off state or made a corner mark into the icon of the button.

Hi Jabier,
I don´t think we could afford one more icon in toolbox. There are, from usability point of view, two possible but not so trivial to implement solutions:
- Implement Icon grouping on main toolbar
- Dynamically changing secondary toolbar. Similar to path
tool modes (BSpline, Spiro, Bezier etc.), but with other settings that change depending on modus.. :)

I don't think there is any benefit to styling them differently. None of those options are applicable if that base functionality isn't toggled on. If there were an arrow or dark corner I would assume you would need to long-click the icon because would allow you to change the default state of that button. An example would be the Adobe tools or in Scribus if you long-click on the icons they have for things like shape tools.

Hi Josh, another question about UX toolbar changes.
If the toolbar has elements disabled by the selected element, ex: full circle selected, is beter hide it or disable like currently?
Cheers, Jabier.

I recive a interesting feedback from Mark Schafer in the video coments. He point me a method to mark expandable icons. In a first review we have two options: Style the buttons diferently, probabily the border -dashed- on off state or made a corner mark into the icon of the button.
What you prefer? Any one more? Is a good idea?

Regarding Ellipse/Circle and Selector Tools, that gets into hiding stuff that should be visible by default. With the Spray Tool example, the toggles that are hidden are effectively dependent on the "parent" feature being enabled in the first place.
