What Inkscape version matches the latest pot file?
I'm trying to improve the danish translation of Inkscape and have updated my po from this one: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/annotate/head:/po/i...
But how do i know what version of Inkscape the file is for?
If i go to https://inkscape.org/en/download/windows/ i see the stable realeases.
But for example the string "_Template" used in the File menu are not the in the inkscape.pot i link to above.
I'm using Inkscape 0.91 r13725.
Are there any Inkscape nightly builds or something, so that the translation file matches the Inkscape version.
I'm using Windows 7.
The latest po file is for the development version ("trunk"). To be entirely sure of a file's version, check the revision number of the files you want to compare.
If you want to try out your own translation, you may have to compile Inkscape yourself (ask on IRC how to do that on Windows - the documentation in the Wiki may be outdated).
If you don't want to test your own translation, but just want to see how the phrases are used in the English original, you could also use the daily build for Ubuntu from the ppa.
There are no regular builds for Windows, AFAIK. You could use a virtual machine with Ubuntu for installing the latest development version. Let us know if you want to try that, and need help with that.

A binary archive of rev. 14225 for Windows 32bit is available (ftp://download.tuxfamily.org/inkscape/). Since Windows is not my main operating system the FTP site is not updated very regularly, and some intermediate builds are removed to free some disk space from time to time, but it could be useful if you need to test your PO file.

I would like this to be linked on inkscape.org if it could be called official builds.
Everytime i try to build anything on Windows i have a hard time because the instructions are often for Linux.
I was about to ask the same - are these official and reliable (and are the servers' capacities) enough for them to be linked from the inkscape.org download page, jazzynico?
The request for current Windows builds comes up now and again, in forums, questions, etc.
Thanks! Regards, Maren

The builds are not official, for win32 only (official devlibs), not updated regularly, and the server's capacity is very limited. I give the link when someone really needs it (often for debugging or development purpose), but I think it should not be shared to a wider audience...

Some years ago we had a dedicated server which provided builds and documentation. Do you thing the official inkscape.org server could also host a FTP service for Windows nightly builds?

- I've got no idea, Nicolas - I do a little website editing, translations, and some petty website development, but I have little to no knowledge about the admin side of things. I'll forward this to Martin ;) Could become a long-term goal.
@Martin: make this a feature request?
Thanks for the info!

And FTP service is possible. But as always we have certain limitations on the resources we have available. I we need more we will have to ask for it.
Overall we should get a sense of how much space total will be needed at any one time and how often uploads will need to be done and how easily we can schedule uploads for low traffic times. (it'd be nice if we could upload on a different machine, but we don't have that capability yet)
So we have a small server (40GB of space) with limited up and down bandwidth. The bandwidth limitations also come into play with the uploading which might happen every week or even every day.
Hope this information helps.

I just received a positive answer from the tuxfamily sysadmin, and thus we can add a link to the win32 dev files (http://download.tuxfamily.org/inkscape/) on the inkscape.org download page.

Hi Nicolas,
great :D
Are those your builds? How often (just approximately) will they be updated? (I'd like to add the info to the site)
Thank you! Regards, Maren

Hi Maren,
Are those your builds?
Yes. Created on Windows XP (32bit) using the official win32 devlibs.
How often (just approximately) will they be updated? (I'd like to add the info to the site)
Not very regularly. But I can try to create monthly or fortnightly archives if needed.

I'll write 'irregularly (approx. once a month)' then, unless you object ;)
Thanks a lot for making that possible!
