Website: New prerelease tarball
Dear fellow website translators,
the development versions download page has been updated to include a tarball for 0.92pre3.
I'm hoping we'll also get some Windows versions soon, but as it's just a tiny and quick edit, so I'll already update my translation.
Thank you for your help, Kind Regards, Maren

I noticed that the development versions download page for Portuguese is completely untranslated, was wondering why, but I think its because I can't seem to copy plugins from English.
Is this a permissions error? Can it be fixed or could someone copy it from English for me, please?
Thanks

Hi Duarte,
I think you must first ‘create the Portuguese version’ of the page. In edit mode and Portuguese language, click on the blue button ‘Page Settings’ in the top right-hand corner, then set the page’s title and slug and save. Then copying plugins should work.

Nope, still not working.
Manually created the slug and page title for Portuguese, it displays correctly in the menu and live page, but the content is still the fallback from English language.
Going into structure mode and manually copying the plugins from English still gives the error of no permissions. I think I've heard the downloads plugin causing this situation before for other translators, if I am not mistaken.

Hi Roberto and Duarte,
this doesn't seem to be a permissions issue. It also doesn't work for me, when I use the 'copy all' or 'copy from English' buttons in structure mode on that page (although I think it had worked when I translated to German...).
But it *does* work from the menu. To get there, zoom out of the page, and open the 'Language' menu. Somewhere near the bottom, there's another 'Copy all plugins from English'. That one actually works... I'll make a bug report.
(as I needed some place to test, I've copied them to pt now for Duarte)

Hey never noticed all those options in the menu before, but unfortunately it's not working for me from that the menu either.
I mistakenly started translating in the English page, luckily o noticed on time and didn't publish it. I didn't revert to published either for fear of triggering that dreaded bug that broke the front-page.
I tried copying and pasting the source to PT, but the links plugins don't work that way, so I was trying to start over by copying from English again but I get another error "undefined | 403 not found" from the menu.
Sorry for the mess

Everything seems to be in order now, many thanks for the help, and promptly saving my translation before reverting:-). I actually did the same locally before cancelling, due to lost work before. One learns from its own mistakes. I also gave some feedback over at the bug report as requested.
One other unrelated thing thing that came to my attention now. Whenever translating to Portuguese, internal Inkscape.org links never show as plain text in CKEditor; at least until edited or translated, a small globe icon shows up instead of link text. It as always been so for Portuguese, but I noticed that in the English Page they show up directly as text from the star. Is this a limitation of the current system or a bug?
I'm not even sure what is better anymore, because directly displaying the text is misleading, because in-place editing doesn't actually work and committed changes, despite correctly displaying in editor, are discarded leading to data loss. Having the globe icon there at least prevents that though not seeing the text immediately is also hindering for translations.
What do you guys think?
Again, thanks for the help, Maren.

Well, it’s not related to « internal Inkscape.org links » but to the link plugin. Sometimes it displays text and sometimes the globe, don’t know why. I’ve noticed this since I started editing. I recommend you always click/double-click on a link when trying to edit it.
You can also put <a href="…">normal links</a> with the CKEditor, but it’s not recommended — however there’s no other choice for the news. Normal links are always displayed as text. -- Sylvain

- It's one of those small bugs I've stopped wondering about... - so I do it like Sylvain, just double-click on any kind of link, and then it'll work. I think there might even be a report for it somewhere in inkscape-web, but I think the problem is more with ckeditor or the specific plugin.

Yeah thanks for the feedback, I generally double click them too for editing, though this time I got carried away by seeing them displaying correctly and forgot about it. Only when switching between source view and styled view I noticed they never committed.
Just curious because the link editor is also very slow and takes a lot of time to load, making it cumbersome to edit lots of links that way. It's really no big deal, just curious if it was something wrong on my end or if it affected all translators.

- It's one of those small bugs I've stopped wondering about... - so I do
it like Sylvain, just double-click on any kind of link, and then it'll work. I think there might even be a report for it somewhere in inkscape-web, but I think the problem is more with ckeditor or the specific plugin.
Kind Regards, Maren
Again, thanks for the help, Maren.

this doesn't seem to be a permissions issue.

Nope, still not working. Manually created the slug and page title for Portuguese, it
displays correctly in the menu and live page, but the content is still the fallback from English language.
Going into structure mode and manually copying the plugins from
English still gives the error of no permissions. I think I've heard the downloads plugin causing this situation before for other translators, if I am not mistaken.

Link editor has always been very slow for me, not just right now. But like I said, its no big deal for me, download links themselves don't need translation anyway since they just read the file extension, so its quite ok.

Duarte, all these problems you're having I'm also having. The link editor is too slow for me too. I already had a problem of losing the translation that was doing, it happened when I clicked twice to open the link and edit. So when I see a new link, I get the English version, see the settings and delete the link and create a new translated version. I don't always do this, some links have a globe icon and other text, also some links equal in translated version not appear when publishing, then I create them again. The link with globe icon give less problem than the link displayed as text.

I don’t understand what settings you’re talking about but yes, links or other plugins are quite a pain to edit since they need loading. But it’s not much more painful than writing/editing <a href="url">text</a> as I often do.

Duarte, all these problems you're having I'm also having. The link editor is too slow for me too. I already had a problem of losing the translation that was doing, it happened when I clicked twice to open the link and edit. So when I see a new link, I get the English version, see the settings and delete the link and create a new translated version.
- @Roberto: I think that might be even slower than just double-clicking. If you don't trust the double-click, you can also do a right-click, and choose to 'Edit plugin'. Then there's no danger of accidentally clicking a second time (didn't know about that bug, can you make a bug report for inkscape-web?).
I don’t understand what settings you’re talking about but yes, links or other plugins are quite a pain to edit since they need loading. But it’s not much more painful than writing/editing <a href="url">text</a> as I often do.
- @Sylvain: There's also the normal 'Link' button in the editor (a chain symbol), where you won't need to switch to source code mode. It's faster, because it doesn't need to get information from the db to load the dialog (only client-side javascript). I think this one is what Duarte referred to.

things are happening very fast at the moment, so there are a lot of 'new news' and website updates currently.
Oh yeah, well I can’t deal with the Download pages currently (so I’m using the English fallbacks everywhere), I haven’t finished with the Release notes yet! When it’s done I’ll deal with everything on the website.
- Take your time, Sylvain (and everyone) :) Putting in the fallback is a good way for bridging the time.
Regards, Maren
