Gradient fill Quality (Linux user)
Hi there,
I would like to ask about inkscape gradient fill option. When I use gradients I can easily recognise tone steps in the gradient ..especially when I am using few gredient filled objects with different transparency levels. What might be the reason ? I using Debian , Xorg 24 bit Color Depth.
When I draw the same picture under windows with AI or Photoshop the gradients are more smooth.
Thanks, Paul

I have basically the same system setup as you (Ubuntu "Breezy", xorg, 24-bit), and I don't experience those 'steps'. Do you recognize them instantly in Inkscape, or only in exported bitmaps? To me, this problem has occurred a few years ago when saving a gradient as JPEG, or in 16-bit. Maybe the different transparency levels are an issue here (I never tried that, so far).
HTH,
Claus
This is probably a stupid question, but have you check the render quality settings?
