Hi,
Thanks for all the replies. We're getting quite a list. Here is the latest version:
1. Markers that can inherit parent attributes (e.g. marker fill takes parent stroke color so arrow heads are same color as path).
2. New gradients:
A. Conical (special case of mesh?) B. Mesh: (should match PDF types) C. Diffusion curves.
3. Vector effects (see: http://dev.w3.org/SVG/modules/vectoreffects/master/SVGVectorEffectsPrimer.ht... )
4. Multipage SVG's.
5. Multiline text entry.
6. Perspective transforms.
7. Paths constructed of sub-paths with different attributes. Objects that share paths. (Maybe included as part of vector effects.)
8. Control over stroke positioning (amount inside/outside path).
9. Vector fills.
10. Pattern filter: Variable pattern fills (e.g. size/density of dots as function of color/alpha).
11. Embedded fonts.
I really don't know if it is possible, but could you put hifenization?

Don't forget the wiki page: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/SVG_WorkingGroup (I made some comments there, and it might be good to update it with some of the comments gotten in this thread.)

Good morning Jasper. I want to download 4.8 but get all other stuff I don't want that come with it. Are there a site you can recommend for a popup free download. Regards Krappies.

What is that - flowed text perhaps? Regular SVG text can perfectly format text into multiple lines, using spans, and Inkscape has always supported that.

Of course, but Inkscape does it by marking new lines with sodipodi:role="line" and using the non-SVG style line-spacing. No other program can read in Inkscape text and edit it properly as multiline text.

The list is for things which are wanted in SVG, not for things already in SVG which are wanted in Inkscape.
Although that might be a useful page to create, too.
