Hi Bob, As I wrote most of problems solved. The dos-utils mess up if there is no file to delete or if they overwrite something. (if you call twice clean) Attached my current makefile. You see the test before rmdir? BTW: You can simplify your live using unix-utils for Win. http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/fileutils.htm This is not a complete bash (as msys) but useful to. I still have this problems with the freehand-tool and filling of rectangle and star. Can you confirm this? Adib. Uups, my bad. When I run: set path= minwenv mingw32-make -f makefile.mingw dist then it works. Maybe some content of my included path makes this silly output. Adib. "how to create rounded rects / arcs"

Someone (jleach81) came on jabber to ask how to make rectangles with rounded corners with inkscape. I'd guess that elliptical arcs are similarly hard to guess how to do. The person arrived & left while I was away from my terminal, so I don't know whether the person didn't know what tool to use or didn't know how to use the tool to create those alternative shapes. The tooltips of the relevant tools (with square and circle icon, respectively) already say what shapes these tools can do. The circle-iconed tool's cursor shape indicates that it can do elliptical arcs. Perhaps the square-iconed tool's cursor shape should have a rounded rectangle cursor rather than a square-cornered rectangle as at present? It may be useful for the secondary toolbar for rectangle to have specializations: a square, a rectangle, a (circular-)rounded rectangle, and perhaps a circular-rounded square. Similarly for the ellipse. This would be consistent with the suggestion in the "spiral???" thread that the spiral/star tool might populate the secondary toolbar with different "odd shapes" like regular polygon, star, spiral. (Message-id: <1071701170.17080.20.camel@...16...>) I'm not sure of a good way to make it obvious that the knot editing tool can be used to change the roundedness of rectangles. pjm.

GtkMM libs for Win32

I uploaded another copy of my zipfile containing GTK+, Glib, and all of the other dependencies for building Inkscape on Win32. This copy also contains GtkMM 2.2.8, with a matching copy of SigC++. So I suppose that checking GtmMM stuff into the tree would not break the builds. Bob

The only minor issue is that the size of all fonts in the UI is larger than that of native Windows apps - likely a GTK issue though. GTK even translated some (far from all) labels in the interface into Russian, because my Windows is Russian-localized :) Now maybe you can have a look at some lingering issues with the win build: paths of files and preferences (search the source for "TODO:WIN32") and the transient dialogs (I had to switch transiency off for windows, because there was a weird problem: when you minimize a document window, it minimizes with its transient dialog, but when you restore them, only the dialog pops up, and you cannot access the document window unless you close the dialog. See src/dialogs/dialog-events.cpp for code and some comments.)
