About knots selection
by Antonio Ospite
Hi,
I was looking into fixing
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1707919 and, after compiling a
recent Inkscape version I noticed that the behavior of knot changed wrt.
selection and dragging compared to 0.92.x.
After some research on the mailing list I found the change mentioned
here:
https://inkscape.org/en/news/2017/07/12/what-happened-hackfest-2017/
I can see the benefit of keeping knots selected to be able to move
them with the keyboard but I still find the new behavior a little
unintuitive, at lest for shape editing:
1. The colors of the mouse-over and selected states are the same,
maybe the coloring scheme of node paths can be copied: where
mouse-over color is different from the selected and dragging colors
which are the same.
2. Previously selected knots look still selected when _another_ knot
is dragged without pressing Shift.
Steps to replicate:
1. Change size of a rect using one corner.
2. Then change the size using the opposite corner.
The firs corner looks still selected.
3. Shift-click does not really select arc knots for ellipses, or
rounding knots for rects, because this action is already used for
something else, e.g. to close the arc instead.
Would it be possible to use Ctrl-Shift-click for the current
function and leave Shift-click for the normal select behavior?
IMHO this would be more consistent.
4. Dragging with the mouse only affects the last selected knot, even
if multiple ones are selected, but this is not a big deal, the
behavior is different compared to path nodes, but both make sense
IMHO.
I'll resume working on https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1707919
after the details from above are sorted out, to avoid overlapping
problems.
Thanks,
Antonio
P.S.
When verifying 1. I also noticed that path nodes change their size when
clicked the _first_time_ but then get smaller again if the object
is unselected and re-selected; however this is unrelated to the message
above, I'll file a separate bug report for that if it can considered a
bug, what do you think?

voting in gitlab merge request automatically subscribes to it
by brynn
Hi Friends,
I recently clicked the thumb up/down icon in gitlab merge request,
responding to a mailing list message, which asked for a simple vote. And
suddenly email is pouring in!
I finally found how to unsubscribe, but the checkbox for it is in a
separate panel on the right side of the page, which scrolls separately from the
main window. Since the checkbox is below the first page, and the panel scrolls
separately, and the panel does not even have a scrollbar, it was hard to find.
(had to zoom out)
Anyway, I've searched through all the personal settings I can find,
without success. Is there some way not to subscribe to something by simply
voting, and I just didn't find it?
If there's no way to change my personal settings, I wanted to ask if it
would be possible to globally disable subscribing to the thing (merge request,
issue, whatever) by simply voting.
Thanks,
brynn

inkscape-trunk broken, icons missing, causing inkscape to crash on loading projects.
by C R
It just crashes. Is there some reason the icon stuff was merged in a
half-finished state with trunk? It's broken everything, even if you
open Inkscape without loading a project, half the icons are now
missing, and it's unusable.
Having to revert to old Inkscape for the time being, which is an uber pain.
Also wanted to do some bug reporting this weekend, but am having to
put that off too.
Thanks for any advice.

Interface > Theme Preferences
by Marién Soria
Hi there!
I have finally tested Jabier's work, everything works fine!
I designed a new information architecture for that area. There are two file
in this email: one is the analysis and the other is a proposal.
Let me know what you think and if there are something that is not possible
to do.

Symbolic icons
by Jabier Arraiza
Hi all, the branch to allow put symbolic icons trought inkscape
preferences is merged on trunk.
We have currently 2 iconset "hicolor" and "Tango" also "hicolor" has a
symbolic icon set inside.
This symbolic icons are cool but some people dislike use symolic icons
so my question is:
¿Anyone is interested in make a new theme recoloring the symbolic icon
set?
Maybe can be a multi, duo or tri tone recolor.
Please recolor it in text editor with a inkscape instance to check the
style properties fit you color.
Also we can do 2 sets one focus in dark theme and other in clear one. I
think we can use a external defs svg file to handle the colors, so it
can be forked editing one file.
We can also make a system wide same theme from "hicolor system icons"
