In compliance with a launchpad blueprints user's desire, I would like to request an account to access the Inkscape wiki. I'd like to be able to post an organized description of my blueprint/feature request to my user-page once my account is created. Currently my blueprint's description is a messy wall of text. Test failures in 0.91

I'm looking at 0.91 for BLFS [http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/] and we usually tell people how to run tests, if they wish to. I've now installed lxml and numpy, but I'm getting 5 failures. First question: do you intend that a builder should run these tests, or are they, like some packages, there to be run before the release ? I ask that because the only things that seem to run without the Python modules are the cxxtests which XFAIL, and intltool-update and check_markup with the translations. Windows 64bit MSI missing dlls?

Dear Devels, I have an inkscape using client and I invited him to install inkscape on his windows machine. He's reported an error back to me: missing DLLs: librsvg-2-2.dll, libcroco-0.6-3.dll su_v tested to confirm they're not installed with the msi or IRC and I'm wondering if these are required libraries and should they be packaged? I'm hoping we've not just sent out a couple of thousand duff windows builds :-/ Thanks for all the hard work the packagers put in. Best Regards, Martin Owens

Extra bugs introduced between r13888 and r13893

Hi all, clang scanbuild found 2 extra bugs that were introduced somewhere between r13888 and r13893. See here which ones are new (highlighted in red): http://jenkins.inkscape.org/job/Inkscape_trunk_scan-build/lastSuccessfulBui… (yes you will have to wade through all the other potential bugs that we have [1]) It concerns file /src/widgets/mesh-toolbar.cpp - Johan [1] Jenkins currently uses a threshold of 309 clang scanbuild bugs before it starts flagging builds as unstable. This is obviously way too much, so if you can resolve any of the bug warnings, it'd be a great help, and we can then lower the unstable-threshold. It is of course possible that resolving a false-positive would introduce too much other trouble; in that rare case we can increase the threshold.

The Inkscape community proudly announces the release of Inkscape 0.91. https://inkscape.org/en/download/ Inkscape is a drawing and painting tool similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, and Xara X, but with features, new tools, and interface style of its own. It emphasizes the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format, but reads and writes a wealth of other formats including PDF, so it is an easy complement to your other graphics and desktop tools. Best of all, Inkscape is created *by* the community *for* the community: Inkscape is 100% Open Source and freely available to everyone in the world. This release marks the culmination of a multi-year effort to switch to a new internal graphics rendering engine, Cairo. This brings performance enhancements and more accurate rendering of drawings. Thanks go especially to Google for sponsoring much of this work. A new Trace Pixel Art feature enables creation of vector art from bitmaps, sprites, and icons. A new Symbols Library provides reusable graphics elements - you can even read in Visio symbol libraries. New Snapping options and improved Snap preferences make it easier to quickly place items in the alignments you need. The tools for arranging objects offer several new ways to position the elements of a drawing. Tons of other little improvements have been made across all the other tools as well. Several new file formats are supported, including FXG, SIF and HTML5 export; and VSD and CDR import. EMF/WMF are now readable and writable for all platforms. And XCF, PDF, EPS, and PS+LaTeX support are improved. Inkscape has a rich Extension ecosystem, which is well known for bringing clever, cool, and innovative new ideas. Over a dozen new extensions are added in this release, including an Isometric Grid Generator, a Bitmap Cropper, a Text Extractor and a Text Merger, an HSL Adjuster, a Font Replacer, a Voronoï Diagram Creator, and more. which faq should Help menu open/link to?

Hi Friends, The FAQ item in the Help menu caught my attention just now, and I notice it opens or links to the faq in the wiki. Since we now have a new, and more user oriented faq on the website, I wonder if it should link there, instead? Thoughts, comments? Thanks, brynn

Inkscape 0.91.0 source tarball

Finally we are here. The official Inkscape 0.91.0 tarball now exists and can be downloaded here: https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/5720/ Packagers please do your thing, and reply here when you've uploaded usable packages. Everyone else, join me this evening in updating website links, news items, documentation, and so on. We'll need to also put final touches on release announcements and complete translation work. Once we have Linux, OSX and Windows packages present and accounted for, we can pull the trigger on sending out release announcements. Bryce
