I have add the one custom dialog in inkscape . In that i provide the on radio button that we mention the object priority Now my svg file save like Now i want to save svg file in ascending order , ascending operation in Priority value , After ascending svg file i want to save file like that i mention below For that i write custom code when user select Object Path .In "sp_item_list_to_curves" function i do ascending operation in Priority value . after that i can get the Priority values in ascending order .. Hi all, Could someone take the time to explain on our wiki how to compile Inkscape "out-of-source" on Linux/Ubuntu? Such that all object files and whatnot are not put in-between the source files in /src/ but in a separate folder, say /build/. Thanks a bunch! Johan

Synfig exporter extension

I've finished working on the first iteration of the SVG Synfig exporter. The essential features are there and a lot of bugs are fixed, so I think now would be a good time to consider including a copy with Inkscape. I committed the files into a personal branch of inkscape: "lp:~nikitakit/inkscape/svg2sif". (Disclaimer: I'm a git advocate and don't know much about bzr) My work was all done on Ubuntu natty with Python version "2.7.1+", testing against Inkscape 0.48.1, Inkscape trunk build, and a large collection of OpenClipArt files made with various (older) versions of Inkscape. It would be good if someone could test it on Windows and Mac (especially if the python versions are different). ~Nikita

Documentation

Hi, I've gotten back to trying to get more documentation straightened out and filled out. Some architechtural overview, getting started type details, etc. Does anyone else want to lend a hand? :-) Or more importantly are there any specifics I should look into filling out? corrupt SVG or bad Inkscape parser?

When I edit a camel image from OpenClipArt.org, and save it with Inkscape, the resulting SVG becomes corrupt. Bad Camel http://www.openclipart.org/detail/7474/camel-silhouette-by-johnny_automatic I'm not sure whether this image is corrupt or whether Inkscape has trouble parsing it. Hello Arcadie, my suggestion was to drop default predefined points, as the whole outline would be an infinite set of possible connection points. When ever a user drops an handle near to the outline, an instance of an connection point would be generated, positioned on the outline path next to the place of dropping the handle. This instance would hold a float which indicates the relative position of the connector on the given outline. eg.: float pos between 0 and 1, a value of 0.5 would define a position on the outline path half way between the start and the end of the path. This placement would be valid and appropriate even if the object gets scaled. As a result no predefined points are really necessary. One could build the outline out of different paths and maybe additional single point paths and only allow a subset of them to accept connectors, to specialize the objects behavior. But that would depend on the objects intended behavior and would be specific to the objects template. Inkscape with Visio style connectors

Something that's been missing for a while is the ability to set arbitrary connection points on objects so we can use visio style workflows with connectors doing more work for us. May I draw you collective attention to this demonstration video: http://divajutta.com/doctormo/inkscape-as-visio.ogv Here I show off a workflow hack (using nautilus as a stencil) and an genuine edmun scream style code hack to 0.48x branch mod'ing the connector-context code which you can find here: https://code.launchpad.net/~doctormo/inkscape/knot-visio It works by enabling rectangles inside groups to act as child center points. Each of the items you see me drag in the video is a group and each connector is a very tiny rectangle. I hacked it like this because now transforms also transform the new connector points and the amount of code I had to modify is quite small. It also fixes a bug with connectors where connected elements when grouped would not be able to be updated. I added a parent group transform signal catch for 1 level deep which should help with that. Anyway, as a proof of concept I humbly submit this idea to the rest of the developers here for review. Best Regards, Martin Owens

Hello all, I have a question perhaps someone of you can answer: Can inkscape be compiled in Kdevelop or do I have to use Eclipse? I tried various ways to get it to build in Kdevelop but so far they have failed. Searching on google did not provide any answers either, but there seems to be a lot of info about compiling inkscape in Eclipse. Inkscape 0.49 status update & discussion of a proposed release plan

Hey All! Are there any larger features people are planning on still for this cycle that aren't well known? If you want to get something in that is unknown, please speak up soon because we want to help you test it. :) I know of the following items which we're looking to get in: *All of the current GSoC projects. :) *fingers crossed* *What will also probably be more work towards GTK3 compatibility. On the refactoring front I can report good news that Abhishek Sharma has gotten all proper libcroco stuff submitted upstream. If lucky, we may be just a few distribution releases away from being able to take libcroco out of trunk! Additionally, Alex Valavanis has brought our in-trunk copy of libgdl up-to-par with the 2.X (whatever is "current") branch of libgdl. I'm unsure if patch submissions have been made in that direction for the couple of custom features that we have in our copy. Either way, hopefully we'll be able to get our copy out of trunk around the same time. Campbell Barton has been plugging away on cmake related stuff. I'm not sure of the status of it, especially cross-platform-wise. Obviously, Krzysztof Konsinski's GSoC work from last year has been merged and all I can say is... please stress test this the best you can. Pretend you don't know how to use Inkscape and break it like a newb. ;) Are there any big refactoring goals we're still missing out on that people think we should shoot for? (please be reasonable) I'm planning on looking to look into a couple Windows things, but will save that for a different email. All of that aside, here is a VERY loose and preliminary proposed release plan: Mid-August for Chill Beginning of September for Frost (Bug Hunt begins) End of September for Feature Freeze End of October for Hard Freeze Sometime in November for Branch & Release I'd like feedback on the bug hunt goal. I think we've actually gotten a lot accomplished for a release just with the cairo renderer alone. Newly created bugs aside (as in, if you introduce bugs during this cycle, they don't count toward the total), 250 points seems like a reasonable goal. Do note, we will be releasing an uber-stable 0.48.3 more likely than not, so if we release "0.49" to a wider audience to get more testing, it's not so bad. For those new to the process, our bug hunt will begin at Feature Freeze. Traditionally, we specify a point target for us to reach, and award us points based on the severity of the bug: 3, 6, 9, or 12 points for low, medium, high, and critical. Lastly... version numbering... we have way too many opinions about this. I do want to reiterate, Inkscape deserves a more "grown-up" version numbering scheme for users. I very much think Mental's comment about we should have a public version number and then stick with our current numbering scheme for development purposes. It's akin to code-names internally and solid numbers publicly. So, are date formats appealing? YY.MM or YYYY, some arbitrary number we just agree on starting with, bump the decimal place from with the current numbering, or what? If we get too many opinions again, I'll propose handing it over to the board... Thoughts or comments? Cheers, Josh

Pages extension and page numbers.

I downloaded the "pages" package to go with 48.2. Unfortunately when you get to "Master Page" and try to insert an automatic page number you get very deep into python-world. It requires lxml which in turn requires something else etc. etc. I long ago gave up chasing such asymptotic strings of requirements AKA library hell. Would it be possible to package this extension with all the required pieces included? Or reprogram it so that the lxml etc. were not required? I recognize that the author is a python enthusiast. But I am not. And there must be a simpler way to insert consecutive page numbers on a master page. I will do it by hand if necessary.
