build 041124 win32 2000 The Inkscape Preferences window opens up full size and I cannot resize it. It is full size or nothing. The Document Preferences window works fine. vellum

Hi guys, I just worked with flow text for the first time and I really, really love it! You can't tell how much I'm looking forward to proper flow text editing... I mean it was kinda of a pain copying all those spans and stuff but wow, what a result! (see attached screenshot) This is a major step towards professional layouting, I must say. David

The problems seems to be resolved now. For info, seen this morning on : http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?group_id=1&docid=2352 -> ( 2004-11-23 08:07:38 - Project CVS Service ) On 2004-11-23 a disk failure on the anonymous CVS server for projects starting with the letters: e, h, i, j, o and v is causing anonymous CVS, ViewCVS and tarballs for these projects to be unavailable. We are currently working on this issue and do not have an ETA for resolution. Regards, Matiphas

Hey everyone, I've put up 0.40pre4. This will be the last pre-release assuming no surprises. There are some new tutorials and updates to the layers GUI elements in this release. Along with several bug fixes. NEW: calligraphy and tracing tutorials

Today two new tutorials were checked in: Calligraphy and Tracing (in Help > Tutorials). Calligraphy tutorial describes in detail the capabilities of the improved Calligraphy pen tool. A brief history of the art, parameters of the tool, useful tips, and many examples from simple strokes to complete lettering projects. Tracing tutorial explains all the options and parameters of the Potrace interface for bitmap tracing, with tips and examples.

Hey Greg, Here is what looks like should install for OS X. It seems that the OS X installer does not exist, but ways to install it using two packaging systems on OS X do exist. Mac OS X using DarwinPorts: http://inkscape.darwinports.com/ Mac OS X using Fink (http://fink.sf.net/) There are current installer versions for windows here: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/inkscape/Inkscape-0.39-1.win32.exe?downl… and you can get other versions here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=93438 In terms of an easy to use DMG package for OS X, it appears that this does not exist currently. I am going on a hunt for this and am going to try and get one generated or do myself. This needs to exist for Mac OS X! Bulia Thanks for responding I take your point about distinguishing "editing" from "viewing". I was ignorant of the existance of inkview. In practice, Inkscape is not so much of a "user agent" as it is an SVG creating application. In particular, following link on click will badly get in the way of editing. Clicking something in Inkscape has lots of editing functions. So, while we can create links, I think we can be excused for not following them. This of course applies to inkscape proper. For inkview, following links by calling a browser is a must. I think we already have an RFE on that; search in the tracker and add your comments.
