Build issues on Mac with Trunk

Hi all, Building trunk on mac fails currently, following issues: src/ui/dialog/filter-effects-dialog.cpp fails as the check for GTK version at line 26 is checking gtk version but the feature its using is gtkmm. Mac ports has gtk3 v3.22.3 but the gtkmm3 port is only 3.16. So the version check passes, but gdkmm/seat.h isnt found. Have currently bodged it by upping the gtk version being checked for in my build, but needs fixing properly. Same issue occurs in desktop-events.cpp, device-manager.cpp, same bodge works for them. The changes made to src/widgets/eraser-toolbar.cpp in revision 15159 breaks it on mac, reverting it to 15158 builds ok. the rest of the build seems to build ok, but its then failing on linking, but its too late to try fix that now, just wanted to document the above before I forget where the issues were. Standard X11 build btw not the quartz one. Thanks to MC and Su_v for helping me get this far :) Cheers John

Mesh gradient status and plea for help with testing.

Hi, Mesh gradients are included in SVG 2 but their remaining in the specification is on shaky grounds.[1] We need to generate suitable SVG content using meshes in order to generate enough buzz to get the browser vendors to take notice. With that goal in mind, we would like see meshes enabled in the 0.92.x release but need help with testing. I've just checked into trunk the final GUI improvements to mesh handling. Please test and give me feedback. (And share any cool content you creat!) I will be merging the changes into 0.92.x in the next couple of days. Inkscape 0.48 download?

Hello Webmasters, As the new widgets for setting percentages are completely unusable on interactive white boards due to their low precision input, I reverted back to Inkscape 0.48 which is more tolerant for finger input (has two separate input fields, a slider and a text field rather than a blob). However, the link to the legacy 0.48 has been removed and at the many schools I work, there is an occaissional outbreak of virus which means disks get wiped and a fresh winXP is installed (yes, really, working in China is bliss). Same infestations also regularly force me to wipe my USB sticks with the installation files for 0.48. Harddisk corruption due to 40 plus temperatures have destroyed my last copy of 0.48 install files. So now I'm without. Could you please recreate a link to the good ole 0.48 for legacy widget users and possible other finger input and shaky hands people, so they can install a usable version of Inkscape? Cheers, Jelle

Inkscape 0.92pre3 released

The 0.92pre3 source package has been released and can be downloaded from: https://inkscape.org/en/download/source/ This pre-release adds GUI support for a preview of a potential last minute new feature we are considering inclusion in 0.92, mesh gradients. It is our hope that raising visibility of this awesome feature will help motivate its inclusion in the SVG 2.0 specification, which is approaching finalization. Please try the feature out, and if you like it please advocate for its adoption by web browsers and other SVG using applications. Whether we actually include it in 0.92 depends on hearing plenty of positive feedback. We'll also be paying attention to reports of problems. Packagers are encouraged to prepare binary packages for the platforms we support. Thanks, Bryce

Freenode cloaks available

Hi everyone, For those of you that use freenode IRC, and who would like to show affiliation to the inkscape project on IRC, there is a possibility to have account cloaks. Basically, what changes is that when you join a chan, the message would be "Mc [~mc@...1522.../developer/mc] has joined" instead of "Mc [~mc@...3446...]" with no cloak or "Mc [~mc@...3447.../mc-]" previously. It will also appear in the /whois information, etc. The format would probably be @inkscape/developer/<preferred name> for devs, but we can also give @inkscape/translator/<preferred name> for translators, /board/ for board members, etc. If anyone is interested, just drop me a line on #inkscape or #inkscape-devel . I'll fine-tooth-comb the various workflows this weekend and make a comparison for reference. Personally, I'd be thrilled if paste-style worked on flowed text again. Jabier's idea sounds good to me though at a glance.
