The messed up icon issue

Hi, I finally have the time to do what Kees Cook suggested. I updated my local cvs dir just now and did "./autogen.sh", which throws at the end: ---output--- checking for autoconf >= 2.52 ... yes (version 2.57) checking for automake >= 1.6 ... yes (version 1.7.6) checking for glib-gettextize >= 2.0.0 ... yes (version 2.2.3) checking for intltool >= 0.17 ... yes (version 0.27.2) Copying file po/Makefile.in.in Please add the files codeset.m4 gettext.m4 glibc21.m4 iconv.m4 isc-posix.m4 lcmessage.m4 progtest.m4 from the /opt/gnome/share/aclocal directory to your autoconf macro directory or directly to your aclocal.m4 file. You will also need config.guess and config.sub, which you can get from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/config/. patching file po/Makefile.in.in ---/output--- What should I do? Where do I copy the files from /opt/gnome/share/aclocal to? If I do "make distclean" it says: ---Quote--- make: *** No hay ninguna regla para construir el objetivo `distclean'. Alto. ---/Quote... Which means: There ain't no such thing as 'distclean' bro. or similar. Suggestions? Since it looks like folks decided to enforce a gcc version (according to the closed bug report on this), I went ahead and implemented a test for version 3 or better in "configure". -- Kees Cook @outflux.net

Grid-related patches

Hi, I've just put a couple of grid-related patches in the tracker; I mention them here in case anyone wants to disagree ;-) 1. Anchor points are snapped to the grid; otherwise when you're drawing a line with the pen tool you get every point except the first snapped to the grid, which seems a little odd. 2. Resolve the issue whereby changing grid snap units from pixels to mm is not noticed. Fuller explanation is in the comments I added and in the patch tracker. My other grid-related problem is that pasting a snapped object results in the pasted version not being snapped to the grid. I plan to fix this so that pasted objects are placed such that their points have the same offset from the nearest grid points as the original. Any objections? Cheers Carl

Do not close an unreproducible bug unless a reasonable amount of effort is put into reproducing it, and let it rot for some time before closing - someone may come up with a better report in comments. 2. Clarify. If it took you some time to guess what it's about, take another second to reword the title or add a comment, to make it obvious to whoever will be reading the tracker after you (especially if it's the person who can fix it) . 3. Document your solution. Text in PS output

Hi, Does anyone happen to know why Inkscape prints text to PS using curves, rather than just a standard text object? Is it because of font substitution problems, or something? Cheers Carl

Hello I download the .exe and install it on a winxp machine. All went fine except for a user called marieJosé. inkscape do not like the "è" in the user $home : inkscape.exe 2248 invalid utf8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text(). when starting (i think it comes with loading/writing prefs files. well it start ok but i would like to avoid that message, if possible i tried with another user (me) herve and inkscape start fine. i tried to copy my prefs files in the inkscape directory the message remained. i looked in the prefs file to see any mention of $home and didn(t found one). Is there a way to avoid it ? hervé

Another grid-related question.

Hi, When you draw a path using the pen with the grid enabled, the centre of the resulting path is snapped to the grid. However if you then drag that path around (using the select tool), the /edge/ of the path starts snapping to the grid. For my purposes I'd say that snap should always be to the centre of the path, but I can imagine that others might want to snap to the edge of it. Any thoughts? Carl

So just "WhateverName" is much better. To a user, "INK_" is redundant because he knows the markers come with Inkscape, and "m" is redundant because they are shown as markers to him.
