What is proper transform/scaling behavior?
by Eric Jonas
Thanks again for Inkscape, it really rocks. Does anyone know what the
proper behavior is for scaling objects via transform attributes? Is the
stroke supposed to be scaled or not? I figured there would be just one
answer, but the svg-rendering programs are all over the map here:
http://web.mit.edu/jonas/www/anisotropy/
I ran into this when looking at the PS & PDF output of both Inkscape and
Batik; at first it appeared to be caused by people assuming SVG's
transformation matrices worked the same way as ps, but then I can't
quite figure out what the hell the Adobe SVG viewer is doing...
So I'm curious to know what the Right behavior is, or if this is an
ambiguous region in the standard...
Thanks again, inkscape is amazing...

problem with dialogs
by Arpad Biro
Hi,
There's a dialog-related problem with current CVS. To reproduce it:
1. "File/Input Devices"
-- for me it says "No extended input device", and
I get two buttons: "Save" and "Close" --
2. press the "Close" button (the one in the dialog - not
the one provided by the window manager)
3. "File/Inkscape Prefs"
4. close the prefs dialog
--the "Input" dialog shows up again--

We like the flags, Joe, but I'll forward your comments along.

I don\'t mind the Union Jack representing English, because they invented the language, but when you mix in the US flag it says \"we are politically correct, so we went to a lot of effort not to offend by adding in all the countries that speak this language\". But that creates more offence when you leave a country out. Hint: many more countries outside of US/UK speak English as a first language.

I think it would be better for messages posted using this form (http://www.stiefelweb.de/_other/inkscape/submit2webmaster.php) to be sent to the entire devel mailing list, as *a lot* of other people have write access and work on the website.
Also, one would know when (and what) someone else has replied.

Inkboard screenshot and demos
by David Yip
Hi all,
Here's some Inkboard demo materials:
http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~yipdw/inkboard/inkboard-screenshot-1.png
(1280x1024, 187 kB)
http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~yipdw/inkboard/inkboard-demo-2.mp4
(H.264 (using x264), 1136x864, ~187sec, 2.1 MB)
http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~yipdw/inkboard/inkboard-demo-2.avi
(H.263 (using XviD), 1136x864, ~187sec, 11 MB)
The videos have the same content; however, the video in the MP4
container is substantially smaller (and looks better, IMHO). I'd like
to hear if it's playable by other people. (I know a Media Player
Classic/recent version of ffdshow setup can handle it, but I'd like to
hear reports from users of more "standard" players, i.e. QuickTime
Player.)
