save as AUTOCAD (dxf): Unknown error attempting to open temporary file

Hello list, I am using Inkscape Version 0.41 on Suse 9.3 and I would like to expot DXF format which does not work. What I have done so far: 1. downloaded svg2dxf.zip from http://ucsu.colorado.edu/~squiresm/ 2. unpacked the zip file and copied the files ps2dxf.sh and dxf_output.inx to /opt/gnome/share/inkscape/extensions 3. made the file ps2dxf.sh executeable 4. Then I start Inkscape from a Shell 5. right afte the start, I check the extensions-errors.log which has no messages 6. I place some straight lines and save them as .svg which works 7. I try "save as AUTOCAD (dxf)": Inkscape says "file saved" but 8. I get the following message in the shell: Extension::Script: Unknown error attempting to open temporary file : invalid or incomplete Multi-Byte- or Wide-Sign [translation from German: : Ungültiges oder unvollständiges Multi-Byte- oder Wide-Zeichen] No file has been saved. Any Idea, what has gone wrong here? Thanks for help Rai

Hi, I'm new to this but I was hoping that I could get some feedback about this bug submission about the fixed toolbar making inkscape unusable on unusual or small screen resolutions: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=1469554&group_id=93438&ati… I have left a reply to it, and I hope that people will read what I've added, because it is stopping me from being able to use inkscape. Could someone please reply telling me whether it might be possible for anyone to fix this or not? Or more importantly, whether this bug is one that the developers consider important enough to warrant a fix or not. I have made some suggestions as to how it might be fixable, however I am not a real programmer, so they are just suggestions. Thanks for reading this, Chris

You can disable building Cairo-pdf support by editing config.h in your inkscape root and outcomment #define HAVE_CAIRO_PDF ; that way you can compile again. Building Debian package from svn

Hello, I have tried to run 'checkinstall' after compilation but building the Debian package fails. Here are the default values I had to customize: > 0 - Maintainer: [ root@...1501... ] > 1 - Summary: [ A Vector Drawing Application ] > 2 - Name: [ inkscape ] > 3 - Version: [ 0.44+devel ] > 4 - Release: [ 0 ] > 5 - License: [ GPL ] > 6 - Group: [ Applications/Graphics ] > 7 - Architecture: [ i386 ] > 8 - Source location: [ inkscape ] > 9 - Alternate source location: [ ] > 10 - Requires: [ desktop-file-utils > desktop-file-utils ] First I have set the release value to '0' because it includes spaces. But there is still a problem with the requirements. The Scribus Team is pleased to announce the release of Scribus 1.3.3.4 This release is purely a further bug fix release to the recently released 1.3.3.3. In particular, there are a number of SVG import and rendering fixes, including better support for gradients in imported SVGs. Also there were fixes and improvements in the Story Editor and Undo/Redo and UI translation updates. Scribus now requires libtiff and the littlecms libraries. The Scribus team has announced previously there there will be substantial core code changes in the next 1.3.4 and 1.3.5 releases, so the team has branched 1.3.3 to provide a stable usable version. The upcoming 1.3.4 version will include a completely rewritten text layout engine for more refined glyph and text layout, along with a host of new features including advanced transparency support, image effects and more. The team has decided to migrate QT 4.2.x for version 1.3.5.
