LaTeX formulas on win32
by unknown@example.com
I suppose i have all the dependencies on my box (latex, dvips, pstoedit) but
this functionality does not appear in the effects menu. Any hints?
I'm using 0.42.1-1 and have also a separate python interpreter. Some other
extensions using python work fine.

Update of Downloads page
by Josef Vybiral
Hello fellow translators,
I have updated downloads' page to point to 0.44.1 release. I updated
pages for all translations(cz/sk, de, en, es, fr, it) with correct links
to files and would like to ask those who did translations to look on
downloads page and tell me if I screwed up anything in their translation
and how to correct it :-)
Missing links (for .tar.bz2 and .package) were removed (commented out in
html) until these packages are created(if they are to be created).
Also, I have noticed that there is one untranslated paragraph on
downloads page for Italian translation. Could Luca or any other Italian
speaking guy/girl update it? It is the first paragraph under
"Development version/Versioni di sviluppo" heading.
Thanks for all your work
sincerely
Josef 'cornelius' Vybíral
P.S. this message is CCed to inkscape-devel list to inform developers
about changes on website.

swfml export
by Gerrit .
hello everyone at inkscape! first, let me thank you all for the great work.
i am using inkscape to produce assets for flash animation. recently, i have
turned to swfmill for converting svg to swf. in swfmill, the svg is first
transformed into an xml dialect resembling swf structures (swfml), which is
then converted to swf.
while trying to include more svg features, i thought that maybe it would be
easier to generate the swfml in inkscape, where the data is already
available in code.
QUESTION:
would anyone be in favour or support the idea of exporting swfmill
compatible xml from inkscape?
or do the ming based swf export patches already work well enough to make
this obsolete?
i would try this, but would probably need some support and advice.
cheers
gerrit

Announcement by Vi sion Ene rgy G roup: Negotiations Completed on Low BTU Gas Property in Central Valley, CA
Los Angeles --(Busi ness w ire)--Aug. 31, 2006--Pursuant to an agreement of July 2005 between Vi sion Energ y G roup (Pink Sheets: VGY I) and Valley Production Inc., the seasoned Oil & Gas Production Group from Bakersfield, CA, Visio n En ergy Gr oup has concluded negotiations to jointly process low quality natural gas from two existing wells. A recent third party analysis of these wells gave a remaining reserve in the three production zones of almost 4 billion cubic feet of gas. This will give the project a production life of 10 years at the modest production rate of one million cubic feet per day. Further reserves of gas are anticipated in the surrounding leases after a geophysics and drilling program have been completed.
The gas, which will be upgraded using Visiion Energgy Grroup's proprietary technology and know-how, will be so ld as premium grade gas into the statewide pipeline grid. The estimated capital co st of the project is $2.0 million and will be targeted to be in production within seven months.
Valley Production has among its principals and technical staff such notables of the industry as Jeff Smith and Ed LeLousis of Bakersfield, Calif. This production-oriented team will steer Vis ion Energ y Gr oup, Inc. into the selection of other suitable projects in the San Joaquin Valley, manage and operate the properties and share in the ca sh benefi ts on a structured incentive plan.
Visio n Energ y Grou p, Inc. will beenefit from owning such projects directly or indirectly and by employing their proprietary technology to either liquefy or clean up stranded and/or flared gas from properties that can be acquired at c osts below the normal mark et p rice. Visiion Energyy Grouup, Inc. is aware that significant reserves of low BTU gas exist in the San Joaquin Valley that can be processed into high quality gas by their systems and readily sold into the pipeline grid.
About Vision Energy Corp.
V ision E nergy Corp. offers an efficient, patented technology to generate electricity at substantial savings by using the wasted energy dissipated when high pressure gas pipelines are let down in pressure for local consumption. Up to 70% of electricity generated when using this system is produced without combustion of any fossil fuel and therefore no harmful atmospheric emissions. Thermal efficiency can exceed 100% by taking advantage of both let down energy and primary turbine waste heat (exhaust ).

Re: [Inkscape-devel] Announcing: 'tabs' in the UI for effects.
by Johan Engelen
I did not foresee a big discussion on this topic, as the 'tabs'
came as a natural solution to me. Some comments to what has been
mailed:

In fact, I first wanted to make my own UI, because the funcplot
extension really needs to be able to read the SVG and change the UI
depending on the contents of the SVG. (if you select a function
plot, you should be able to change its formula; now
you have to recreate a rectangle and apply a new formula)
Because I want the extension to work on all Inkscape distributions
I did not advance into Python libs there are not supported by the
current distro. (if this is desired, then inkscape should come with
a separate installer for Python, and not include it in itself)
> I worry about any effect that has so many options that it
> requires seperate tabs.
I like options :). The funcplot extention should have a "config" tab
where you can specify wether it has to delete the rectangle or not,
what the stepsize is to calculate the numerical derivative, wether to
actually do anything with the derivative or just make a sharp cornered
'curve', etc :)
I usually want to make things as versatile as possible, which maybe is
bad indeed. (certainly eats up a lot of time)

My thoughts exactly. At first I intended to make "frames". To group
parameters in a framed box. But for sake of "tinyness", I made tabs
so the UI window can be kept small.

I did only a little thinking myself before I came up with the XML as
it is now, but I don't know wether it is correct use of XML or not. I
hope it is. One side effect of the way it is now, is that the notebook
is really a parameter: you can read back which page was being displayed
when the user clicked OK. This has to do with the way I made the
implementation and was not really intended. Probably that does invite
bad and unclear design. Note that the XML syntax for notebooks springs
from ease of implementation and having control over positioning. (you
can position a notebook halfway for example, with parameters above and
below it. Clearly ugly :)
