That is in my opinion very likely to happen. I had contact to one guy who had
to convert his graphics with some crappy propritary software which is
protected by a dongle. He used the software just to convert the files for a
cutting-plotter. He asked me, if he can do that with inkscape in the future.
Such people like it easy and would gladly pay real bucks, so that they can
ditch their old software.
Would you like to draw a picture with inkscape, shut down the computer, change
the dongle on the printer-port, start the computer again, convert your files
and plot them? Every day ?
If inkscape-coders like to earn some money, they should write something in the
wiki or on the homepage, that they were availebal for such activities.
greetings

Yup, it's a coding issue. It looks like the code in question is in
inkscape/src/extensions/internal/*.cpp .
Being able to print banners from Inkscape would be _very cool_.
This could be a seriously killer feature.

Yes, that was a survey to see if there were people willing to fund
development work. We came pretty close to having sufficient interest,
and some people even pledged some money, but there just wasn't enough to
make it viable.

Actually, we could really use YOUR help to get this solved. You're
probably thinking, "...but I can't code", but I think you could make a
huge contribution here simply by helping locate a coder who can do the
work.
Ideally, someone could be found that would be willing to do this work
simply for fun and to help Inkscape; there may be students who would
like to take on a coding challenge like this. A more brute force option
would be to do some fund raising and then contract someone to do the
work. Either way would probably work, esp. if you can help provide them
with guidance and feedback as they go.
Does this sound like something you'd like to help with? I know this is
probably a call of duty beyond what you expect, but it would be a great
way to participate in the Inkscape project, facilitate making it more
suitable to your needs, and make it that much better for everyone else
as well.

Bug tracking and Closed feature requests
by Alan Horkan
I sometimes feel hesistant to close certain feature requests, or how
similar things need to be to mark things as duplicates. There haven't
been any complaints so I can only assume no one minds (although bulia has
corrected some of my sloppier less accurate comments but some days you are
tired and __it happens).
One of the requests I closed just today was for asking for Inkscape to use
the platform native file chooser. Given how the Inkscape developers have
already removed this mis-feature from the codebase I'm just hoping for
agreement that it is impractical to do something like that on a per
application basis and any future requests should be referred to GTK?
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1550205&group_i...
The more general issue I am trying to deal with is how can I better know
what bugs to close and make sure I dont go too far? It is always possible
some developer somewhere will be inspired to add wacky and interesting
features, but it would be helpful if there was something the developers
could or say to do to cut down on the guess-work when closing request for
things which are likely to be beyond the scope of Inkscape.
Does anyone have an ideas about cutting down the quantity of duplicate
requests? (I've always said anonymous requests put the barrier too low,
and users should at least be interested enough to provide follow up
information if needed.)
Should I start to carve out some kind of Anti-Roadmap in the wiki and try
to explain some of the things which fall beyond the scope of Inscape?
Thanks in advance, back to trawling through the tracker for another while
Sincerely
Alan Horkan

Oops.
I replied directly to Michele instead of to the list. Someone better
at Italian may want to give a more verbose answer.
