Hi all, ACSpike and I have created the release branch for Inkscape 0.45. With this, we are now ready to move to into Feature Freeze. All further release work (translations, tutorial updates, bug fixes, etc.) will need to be done on the release branch. You can check it out like this: svn checkout \\ https://inkscape.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/inkscape/inkscape/branches/REL… \\ inkscape-0.45-release-branch Note that whereas in previous releases, the branch was made AFTER the feature freeze; this time we're doing it BEFORE the feature freeze. The reason for this is to enable svn HEAD to return to regular development. So please, if you have changes that must go into the release, be sure to commit to both the release branch -and- to svn HEAD. Bryce

Josh, I think showing off the improved gradients would be cool. Wear a black turtleneck :) Can you also demo how blur works ? Showing off the new about screen should really wow people (it certainly wowed me). "plain svg" is 1.2 not 1.0

saving as plain svg creates an svg document that claims to be svg 1.0 and yet contains things like flowRoot and flowRegion from 1.2 Is there any way to flatten an inkscape document to plain valid svg 1.1? Its a bit inconvenient to have to use "convert to text" on each text flow in the document

SCALE INkscape BOF

Our BOF is on. I figure we can give 3-4 short demos (like 5 slides or so) of different aspects. I have offered to do one on layers / GIS usage. Here are some other suggestions for others: * Release .45 features * Showing gradient/blur features - the new about dialog is awesome - we need someone artistic that can show how this is done (Josh ?). Maybe this can show the use of a tablet as well. * any other favorite features I think it's important to keep the demos short so there is lots of time for questions John

Effect->Color->Brighter

Hi, I am having trouble understanding the logic of the Color Brighter effect. The Color Darker effect is quite simple... it takes each RGB component and multiplies it by 0.9 resulting in moving the color 10% of the distance towards black. I would have thought that the Brighten effect would move a color 10% of the distance towards white. Instead it has logic that changes Black (0,0,0) to (10,10,10), any R, G, or B value less than 10 to 11, and any R, G, or B value greater than 10 gets divided by 0.9. This results in a greater change, the brighter the source color. A simple replacement for the current Brighter effect would be: r=int( (25.5 + 0.9 * r); g=int( (25.5 + 0.9 * g); b=int( (25.5 + 0.9 * b); One can see easily see that these equations have the right limits for what I would have expected. arrowhead color bug

Arrowheads that remain black regardless of line color remains a problem. There are various bug postings for this - some showing closed others showing open. All have been given a priority of 5. Yet this is a real usability issue. I've tried to look at the code without success but it seems that the arrowhead takes the alignment from the line so it should also be able to take the color. Can someone have a go at this before .45 ?

"flood-color" attributes fail in make check

We're making good progress through the make check errors.
