Hello all, In my branch (gsoc2008_johan_path2geom), I've been converting SPCurve to a proper C++ class. A lot of the work involves replacing "sp_curve_moveto(c, p);" to "c->moveto(p);" . I've written a script to do this kind of thing. If anyone wants to move more to C++, I think you'll find this automation very handy. Basically, the script searches for a certain regexp, and replaces it with another. There is a confirmation check on every occurance, because the replacement might go wrong (in my script "sp_curve_moveto(human->arm().fingerpath, p);" is incorrectly replaced with invalid code). I have added the file to our wiki. Do we have a page about converting to C++? I'd like to move my SPCurve C++ify to trunk, I have tested and there seem to be no bugs. Can I proceed? Cheers, Johan

"Stack Stroke/Fill" effect for Inkscape

Hey, I just subscribed to this list. I've written an effect for Inkscape in Python, and if you like it, it'd be nice to see it included in the official Inkscape. Perhaps I should call it something else (I just called it "stack" because it kind of stacks the stroke on top and the fill on the bottom), and perhaps there's a better way to do what I'm trying to do. Extensions (inx) files

Hi! I was playing with some extensions recently and started wondering that it would be nice if the extension files (inx) could be made into properly formatted XML documents with their own namespace and an XSD to come with it. This should make creating new ones easier as well as validating them. I should be able to carry out all necessary work but wanted to know if you guys think it is sensible... Okay, I have to admit, that was EXTREMELY COOL, I didn't know that SVG could do animation. But now, being a Windows user, I have a question, this animation runs very well using SeaMonkey in Windows XP, but if I use IE7 as I normally would, then I just get a static image, no animation, anybody know why (other than the obvious answer, that it was made by Microsoft) ?

FUN: a weird clock in SVG+javascript

I have just coded this javascript+SVG weird clock. It is composed by several clock pointers that together form words indicating the current time. This animation is obviously running faster than usual clocks, but I guess you get the idea. http://bighead.poli.usp.br/~juca/code/svg/javascript/weirdclock.svg I have drawn it using Inkscape and then coded it using gedit. I had some issues while doing it. One issue is that javascript code is escaped with html escape codes. This messes my code everytime I modify the SVG file using Inkscape. Another issue is the path:d attribute, which seems to use m and M path codes randomly . I hope you like my animation and that it helps improve inkscape in this use case: handling of SVG files containing javascript code. Hi all! I just heard the great news! Thanks for giving me this opportunity again! Congratulations Felipe, Marco, Jasper and Max! Special note to Max and Marco: since you do geometry things, I'd be happy to work more closely with you if possible and desired :) To Jasper: is it okay if I bug you about path tests? :) Really excited by the project ideas that were accepted! Now, to the topic of this mail: GSoC branches, yes/no. I will be doing under-the-hood refactoring, and I am thinking about whether or not to work in my own svn branch. Pros: I can break builds with partial commits and/or make bad bad bugs. Cons: I won't discover bad bugs. I'd like to work in trunk, because of the bugs issue and because it will force me to immediately handle new code by others. Moreover, I will be forced to make changes that build and function and won't be drawn into making a half-way solution that will not work at the end of GSOC. For the people that are afraid I will be messing up trunk badly: I first intend to do changes in the way the code accesses the path data, then make a test function for conversion to 2geom, then have both representations in inkscape at the same time and constantly check whether they are the same, etc. I intend to do small steps towards completely going to 2geom, so I am more sure that it actually works and did not introduce new bugs.
