Mailinglists Backedup
by Martin Owens
Hi all,
Just in case there's any danger of sourceforge cutting our old mailing
lists, I've backed them all up onto the website server. 800MB of old
mbox files.
Best Regards, Martin Owens

Missing Captcha for mailing list conformation
by jelle
Hi all,
Confirming your desire to be on the mailing list is not so straightforward
for those in China. As the API for the captcha is blocked here, you never
get to confirm (it doesn't display anything).
Can somebody here confirm for
mulder.jelle@...36...
in China
Cheers,
Jelle

Stickers for Inkscape
by C R
Thought I'd post the first in the series:
Coffee tribute to Inkscape:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/t2r8gzwdvoguyqu/inkscape_sticker-latte_art.png?...
The idea is to create a series of fun stickers that show off
Inkscape's illustration capabilities, with web information, slogan,
and inkscape logo as part of the objects pictured.
Illustrations done in Inkscape with vector objects only.
I will post the svgs for people to play with/bemoan when the series is finished.
Maybe we could sell Inkscape sticker sheets for fund raising as well.
Before anyone asks, yes, there will be a Tea and a Soda tribute to
Inkscape as well in the series.
ALL HACKING BEVERAGES SHALL BE REPRESENTED.
Thanks for your attention. ;)

Hackfest: Souvenir cups
by C R
Hey folks.
So since people liked taking home the cups at last year's hackfest as
souvenirs (which also saves me having to fly them back to London in my
lap), I've decided to make them properly commemorative with an
engraved plate.
We also had that issue where cups sort of migrated about, so to answer
the question: Is that my cup or yours, I've decided to further
personalise them with name & project title.
The first sample is successful as you can see here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/s3adt7ydgt2g008/hackfest_cup_paris_2017.jpg?dl=0
So what I need form all the attendees is what name and inkscape team
title you'd like it to show.
For example, the above has Jabier Arriaza - Inkscape Dev.
I also need your preference for right-or left-handed cup to determine
which side of the cup the plate will be attached.
I'll need this information by the end of this week in order to make
sure all the cups are assembled and ready to go.
If you'd rather not post this information to the list, simply contact
me privately at cajhne@...400... with your preference.
Note: Everyone who attends get a cup, so you don't need to be a dev to
get a glass. Just have attended and helped us work on Inkscape for the
4 hackfest days.
Thanks!

GitLab Merge Requests
by Felipe Sanches
i'm used to the "pull request" workflow on github. It seems to me that the
analogous workflow on GitLab would be the "Merge Requests".
I forked the Inkscape git repo into my personal GitLab account here:
https://gitlab.com/fsanches/inkscape
Then I created a feature branch challed *variable_fonts* where I'll be
working on the OpenType Variable Fonts feature.
But I also created a feature branch specifically for a single-commit merge
request. The code itself is very very simple. The idea here is just to
exercise the workflow. The branch is called
*disable_libnrtype_debugging_code* and you can see it here:
https://gitlab.com/fsanches/inkscape/commits/disable_libnrtype_debugging_...
Then I opened a "merge request", but it failed to give me any success
screen. Once I tried doing it for the second time it gave me an error as
can be seen on the attached screenshot. It says:
The form contains the following error:
- Validate branches Cannot Create: This merge request already exists:
["Disable debugging code on libnrtype Layout-TNG-Compute at compile-time."]
But when I look at Inkscape's GitLab repo dashboard, I cannot see any
mention on open merge requests. I'm a bit puzzled about it.
Did anyone receive an email notification about it ?
Happy Hacking,
Felipe "Juca" Sanches

[Gitlab Migration] Branches migrated
by Ted Gould
Hello folks,
All of the branches have no migrated to Git. I'll be running the script
to normalize the e-mail addresses in the commit logs and then start
pushing up to Gitlab. I expect that to take a couple hours each. Sorry
about the delays.

[Gitlab Migration] Still exporting branches
by Ted Gould
Well, still running and finding more branches. I wish I would have
written down exactly how many there were last run, but we're at 120
right now and I thought it was in the low 100's before... but it seems
unlikely I'll get it pushed up to Gitlab tonight. I'll continue to
update as I know more. Sorry for the incorrect estimates.
