Problem with running Inkscape on KDE 4.1.2

Hello, I've done a upgrade of my debian recently. I instlled KDE 4.1.2 and now my Inkscape would't run. I got an error: inkscape: error while loading shared libraries: libpoppler.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory but I've got libpoppler in /usr/lib/libpoppler.so.3.0.0 The package libpoppler3 is required by KDE 4.1 so I can't remove it and restore the older one. Everything was OK before my upgrade in Sunday. What's the matter? Could you help me? cheers, Wojciech RRH Ryrych :)

Hi, all, Yes, that is the idea. One thing I need to learn first is the format of that file. Win32 btool problem

Cairo PDF, PS, and PNG output.

Hi, I've just checked in a few more "fixes" to Cairo PDF, PS, and, PNG output. Clipping and masking now work at least at a basic level. Let me know if you find any problems. Note, evince may not display an object using an image as a mask but acroread will. I know of a few more problems with Cairo output: 1. First and last points of closed paths aren't joined properly. At least in the PS output, the last point is doubled and there is no closepath. 2. Clipping path output twice in PS (maybe PDF too). The second time it is unused. 3. Patterns don't always display correctly in PNG output. Any other problems people know about? Tav

I am DAILY cutting vinyl with Inkscape

I've posted this before, but here goes again - What I am currently doing is organizing a cut page with Inkscape, saving that single color file as /home/bruce/hpgl/newplot.ps I then click a script called 'cut newplot.ps' which changes to the correct directory, generates a view using evince ( just to make sure I'm going to cut the right thing ) and then activates another script based on the one found at: http://pldaniels.com/hpgl-distiller/ ( I changed a few things and am more than happy to share everything with anyone. ) Once I close the preview, the plotter does it's thing. ----------------------------- I would like to create a menu item in Inkscape, but haven't figured that out yet. Inkscape and GMP.

Rounding errors bug me a lot with these "0.999995" values in the SVG files, it lead me to the idea of creating a patch that makes Inkscape use GMP instead of floating-point values. Discuss - I do not want to take the effort into creating this patch if it turns out to be inappropriate after all. Thank you, Polarina.

Inkscape component libraries support

This may already be possible but I'm not certain. I'm currently using 0.44 Debian until I get all the required dependencies compiled. I would like to be able to create named components in an external file and be able to 'import' these items into my svg files and use them. If modified in the external file, the svgs using them would update. Is there any way to do this or does SVG even support something like this? Brian Vanderburg II

Win32 build broken

Somewhere in the NR->Geom migration, the win32 build was broken. LPE Spiro stress test

Hi all, I think I just fixed the long standing bug where LPE Spiro crashed inkscape with a non-continuity exception. (we caught that exception, but okay...) I need some stress testing now! Hi Adrian! Thank you for the patch. I have taken care of the bug reports as it did turn out to be a duplicate report issue. It appears that the issue in the reports is actually library related, as I can not reproduce it with a newer distribution (Ubuntu Intrepid) and the 0.46 release. I have attached the patch you supplied to the bug report so it can be tested against Ubuntu Hardy to see if it is fixed there (as that generation of distro seems to exhibit the problem). Hi! I did separate the "reference path" and the "generating path" in lpe-vonkoch. I think it makes the UI more clear, but it changes previous conventions of course (the last segment of the old generating path should be cut/pasted into the new "generating path"). Caution: this might change again. As it is supposed to contain only one segment, the "reference path" could/should be replaced by 2 points (on the other hand, it might be more convenient to be able to move both points at once, copy/paste that segment, etc..., so I'm not sure what's the best here). Win32 nightly builds don't work since Aug 16

this is just an attempt to bump the priority of https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/259237 and http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=op.uf6b2ds4a8nfnl%… as far as I can tell, the windows nightly builds have not worked since Aug 16. You zoom back and stare at the changes for a while. In this short period of time the zoom out factor gets determined. 3. Press the key and you go back to zoom in state and do some more tweakings. 4. Press key again and go back to zoom out state. Stare at the editing and go back to zoom in if you wish. Something like this. lpe point/path parameters incompatibility?

Synopsis: Choose an lpe having both a point and a path among it's parameters. Apply it to an object. Node-edit the path parameter. Exit node-edit mode and move the object around. Inkscape crashes when you release the mouse. [ Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x77c17742 in strcmp () from C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcrt.dll ] You might complain there is no such lpe in the code base. hmmm. Right. This is a virtual bug (so very difficult to reproduce!), and the reason why I submit it here and not in launchpad. My new version of VonKoch would fit, but I don't want to commit it and get on all users nerves because of unexpected crashes... To make it less virtual, take lpe-test-doEffect-stack (an empty effect, good for testing) . -------------------- - in lpe-test-doEffect-stack.h, add #include "live_effects/parameter/path.h" ... PathParam path; - in lpe-test-doEffect-stack.cpp, add (in the LPE creator:) path(_("path param"), "tooltip of path parameter", "path_param", &wr, this,"M 0,100 100,0") ... registerParameter( dynamic_cast<Parameter *>(&path) ); -------------------- Is this the correct way to add a path parameter? what is the current status of cmyk support in inkscape? what about cmyk in cairo? I have a friend working on brazillian government and they seem to be interested in paying some brazillian developers to put some effort on cmyk support in inkscape Any suggestions about what should be preferably done? bbox not correctly calculated

Buliabyak, I refer to https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/273767 If you select the shape in the attached file you get marker of a huge bounding box. It calculates a width of 83111 and a height of 18847. The calculated space for the image can not be given. BTW The same crash you get when you want to convert the object to bitmap. Despite the problem that it not properly handles NULL pointer after the g_new, could you please evaluate WHY it tells this huge bounding box? Regards, Adib. ---

Stand alone inkscape version for servers

Hello folks, we are trying to include the functionality of converting svg files to png in our web content management system ( ccHost ) mostly for ( openclipart.org ), I tried every possible solution using imagemagick and GD, but nothing did the job as of inkscape, so we decided to actually use inkscape for that ( below the php function that do this ), that cleared the biggest problem, but still have another one: inkscape have a GUI that means a lot of stuff needed to be installed on a "web server " to get inkscape running, but we are using inkscape from the command line and we don't need all that fancy GUI things.. So can you please help us shipping ( or doing this if possible for us ) a stand alone ( one file only ) copy of inkscape without GUI, just the command line, in case we got a one file inkscape binary we can use in a lot of content management systems to actually add the functionality of converting and handling SVG files it will be great if some one can do it, we need such thing a lot Thank you all in advance. Hi, Could you please allow users to redefine this shortcut? I can't find it in global keys/default.xml file. It's a bit frustrating as I was using "q" key to group objects for a half year or so, and after update this key started to zoom objects and nothing can be done to change it. I had the same problem with "d" and space keys, but those were hard coded for a long time, so most users probably get used to them.

Using these new modes, it is easy to "sculpt" scatterings of small objects, such as clone tilings, into complex and naturalistic textures. * Move mode moves those selected objects that are under the brush in the direction in which you move the brush. This is similar to the Push path mode, except that the Move mode affects entire objects and not parts of the paths under the brush. * Move in/out mode moves those selected objects that are under the brush towards the cursor (default) or away from cursor (with Shift pressed). Also, the existing path editing modes of the tool have been rearranged: now Shrink and Grow are one mode (shrinks by default, grows with Shift), and Attract and Repel are one mode (attracts by default, repels with Shift).
