Interactive pencil smooth

removal of "tidy_operator_styled_whitespace"

Hi all, when looking at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1477723 (Cannot style spaces in text + Styling spaces moves them to next tspan) that a friend mentioned to me*, i found the cause of it in a very old function: tidy_operator_styled_whitespace <http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/view/head:/src/tex…> This function is one of several that try to "tidy" text trees, doing the following transformations (or attempts to do so**) : abc def -> abc def abcdef ghi -> abcdef ghi This transformation is exactly what should not be happening in my case (there is imo no reason for not being able to style spaces, especially when doing so changes space width), so *I plan to remove it entirely.* Does someone have any objections? I'm not that familiar with text styling code or with the reasons that prompted this particular set of tidying operators, and it seems that these date back from "revno 1", which explains i'm not as confident with removing it as if it had been introduced a few months ago. Thanks for any advice, -- Mc *He had several lines with different styles, using spaces for indentation, and was unable to put all the spaces in the same style so that lines would be aligned, i guess that's a legitimate example of why people should be able to style spaces ** It also causes the displacement mentioned in the report, but that can probably be cured

Thanks a lot for putting together and doing the research on these items. I've been getting delivery failures about 50% of all the messages I send to Inkscape lists, over the last 3 days. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong? Hi to all, we speak in Toronto about the reviews. we spoke is good make them more faster about less than a mounth. But there is "anciant" branches waiting for some love. I not have enought knows to do it with sure and a cuple of them are mine. Im happy because a lot of my code is on 0.91+devel but i want more :). Maybe is better this new improvements wait for 0.93 release... I hope we can start a discussion about it from here. Anyway thanks to all reviewers and hope more people can help them soon. SVG to PDF, dbus errors on Ubuntu inkscape.dev/stable PPA

I don't know if this is fixed in trunk, my apologies if it has, but the current stable binary on Ubuntu in the PPA throws an ugly error if you don't have dbus configured. Someone else reported this here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1460797 To reproduce, convert any svg to pdf on the command line: inkscape --file logo.svg --export-pdf logo.pdf Error: Failed to get connection ** (inkscape:10595): CRITICAL **: dbus_g_proxy_new_for_name: assertion 'connection != NULL' failed ** (inkscape:10595): CRITICAL **: dbus_g_proxy_call: assertion 'DBUS_IS_G_PROXY (proxy)' failed ** (inkscape:10595): CRITICAL **: dbus_g_connection_register_g_object: assertion 'connection != NULL' failed I don't know if this is a missing packaging dependency (requiring dbus) or a configure-time error, but I run Inkscape without X and so don't normally have dbus available. Full steps to reproduce in vagrant: vagrant init ubuntu/trusty64 vagrant ssh sudo apt-get install python-software-properties sudo add-apt-repository ppa:inkscape.dev/stable sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install inkscape wget https://chartio.com/static/app/images/logo.svg inkscape --file logo.svg --export-pdf logo.pdf Thanks -Peter
