Hello The bug tracker has lots of fairly severe items related to the viewbox-based unit support, for example these: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1236257 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1235279 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1235279 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1244861 Is there some kind of plan for dealing with those? Build failure on Windows with trunk revision 13283

After what must be a somewhat recent update, I ran btool clean to do a fresh rebuild. Now I cannot compile Inkscape anymore. next release and import pdf via poppler-cairo

If I sumarize the last messages about the poppler-cairo pdf import: - the method is usefull as well as the original native poppler import, - there should not two different menu items for importing the same file format I will then continue and check how to merge the poppler-cairo functionality into the native dialogue in order to import via poppler-cairo. This will be a checkbox option. If choosen poppler-cairo import all other options will be disabled. Does this makes sense? regards, Adib. --

Hello all, I did some modifications for properly create nsis-based .exe installer for win32. Now as of rev13283 it packages all fine, some translations are to be done before release. So one more point to tick off the list. Regards, Adib. --

New LPE: Simplify

Hi to all, just developed a new path effect called "simplify". The code is on https://code.launchpad.net/~jabiertxof/inkscape/simplify It simplify a path or group. Think give more control to the standar simplify command (Ctrl+L), because the "fixed" value threshold is modificable, so you can fine tune a lot the simplify. I also add a optional helper path with the generated nodes and or handles to "know" the result path. Feedback are welcome. Regards, Jabier.

Hi everyone, Thanks for the testing from various people. The bugs and corner casses (rss feeds, editing flow etc) have been fixed and I've pushed the news to the live website. I've also fixed the data on live as translations needed to be 'attached' to their parent document to be true translations in the new mechanism. Showing patches in "About Inkscape"

Would anybody else find it helpful if "about inkscape" showed a list of all the patches that were applied? Not the ones that were committed to trunk, but the ones that are still in play, so to speak. At any given time I have several that have been submitted but have not yet been checked on OSX and then committed. Or they fell through the cracks for some other reason and were never committed, or have not yet been posted. The mixture that are present in any given build may vary, and diffing the patch files to see what is what is not fun. That said, I'm not at all sure how one would coerce bzr and patch to allow this. Presumably there would be a "patches.cpp" containing text something like: ... "this patch", "that patch", ... and each patch would stick a name in there to identify itself. Before commit, just remove the patch specific for "patches.cpp". I suspect patch might get awfully confused by that file. It would probably be easier to apply the patches through a script so that: ./apply_patch.sh for_this.patch would take the file name and automagically edit it into the file, while dropping the "bzr diff" generated path TO "patches.cpp". If you can, I'd like you to help test the functionality over on http://staging.inkscape.org/news/ and find any issues and wrinkles before the new functions are pushed to the live website. Let me know the issues here on the mailing list rather than on the bug tracker so I can keep the bugs for live issues. If you don't see any buttons, it's because you must be logged into the website and you must have the required permissions. Let me know here when you're testing and I'll enable your staging account to have permissions. Email Notifications for Merge Requests

One item on the todo list at LGM was getting better notifications about when merge requests come in. This answer shows how to set this up with mailman: http://askubuntu.com/questions/28757/for-my-project-in-launchpad-how-do-i-s… It requires an administrator for the inkscape project to set the branch reviewer to our mailing list account. First, is this action a good idea? Do we want some emails to our list about merge requests? Second, is this the best technique? It could be done via a cron script and liblaunchpad too. And thirdly, any project admins have the time to configure the mailing list and the project to set this up for us? Thanks for your time, Best Regards, Martin Owens
