Hi guys, The wiki seems to be down again, have checked with a couple of is it up type sites, and their all unable to see it. Have pinged an email to the osuosl support address about it. Thought I'd let you all know before anyone else did too. Cheers John

Ellipses and other shapes may be modified on load

Hello It looks like the recent changes to make ellipses use the correct SVG element cause incomplete undo events being left on the undo stack when a document containing old ellipses is loaded. To see for yourself, load the attached document and press Ctrl+Z. This is causing crashes in some scenarios, one of which is detailed here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1001756 The culprit is the update_patheffect() function of SPGenericEllipse, which writes to the XML tree and is called by document->ensureUpToDate(). This write happens even if the object in question does not have any path effect. Under the SP tree model, writing to the XML tree in response to view changes or update events is not permitted. For now, I have hacked around this by disabling undo tracking when ensureUpToDate() is called from SPDesktop::init(), but the proper solution would be to avoid rewriting the LPE result when loading, and prevent the update_patheffect() function from rewriting shapes which do not have any LPEs. [UX] Animation

Hi guys, I'm taking a class on UX design this semester and, throughout the semester, my task is to design a user interface (based on various techniques learned throughout the semester, including rigorous user testing). I've been pondering designing the UI for SVG animation in Inkscape. Would this be useful? If so, could you please clue me in to what the plans for animation in Inkscape are? The roadmap vaguely mentions "Animation support" and http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/SpecSVGAnimation seems to merely be a list of suggestions. What functionality might be part of an initial implementation?

Reverting r13045

Hi Martin, I'm sorry, I will revert commit 13045. 1. It contains a memleak realpath allocates new memory if the second argument is NULL. In the added code, this memory is never freed. 2. Breaks build on Windows (realpath(...) not found) 3. Please don't add functions that use C-strings unnecessarily. Simply rewrite parseDataUri to parseDataUri(const std::string &uri), and use C++'s string methods. ("#include <cstring.h>" is a huge red flag upon code review) 4. Please read this about "realpath" http://insanecoding.blogspot.ch/2007/11/pathmax-simply-isnt.html regards, Johan PS. (not related to commit) uri.cpp has a lot of "throw(BadURIException)", you can remove those as "throw(...)" don't add anything and will become obsolete in C++11.

When and where are copied selections released during program exit?

The topic pretty much says it all. I'm curious because valgrind output, already awash with style.cpp lines, picks up some new code points in that source file if one does: open file, select, copy, exit as compared to open file, exit Possibly items left on the clipboard? On a related note, is there a debugging facility already in Inkscape that logs to stdout or a file messages when SPObject objects are created, referenced, dereferenced, and destroyed? Hello all, I was cleaning up my branch of last year's GSoC project - Recolor Artwork. I was using a piece of code that involved SPEventContext but this doesn't compile anymore. I guess the structure was cppified by another GSoCer: Markus Engel. Well, I can't get around to how to use the alternate Event structure now. Can someone shed some light on it ?
