canvas rasterizing performance

from what's bewen said it seems like the canvas has some performance issues. I have quite a bit of background in relation to tuning rendering engines for performance. help i used to do 3d animated graphics on a 386 with a few mewg of ram. even sqeuuzed a simple cad package onto as bbc computer with 32k of memory. basically, if i get time i'll take a look at it and tyry to identify what the performance bottle knecks are and how to improve them.

i don't know what time zoness you guys frequent or other work engagements: I'm going to raise a bug for a developers meeting next wednesday at 4pm GMT+1. it may take an hour or drag on longer depending on how much input people have to give. all are welcome. the adjenda is as follows: the two options going ahead. CSS Only or javascript with css. : with demos summary of the benifts and limitations of each: with demos research and development possibilities exploring javascript further, what work would have to be completed for js+CSS exploring CSS further risks of javascript extra benefits javascript can bring looking into relevent future scribus developments multimodel approach being adopted for importing pdf into scribus what is left to do actions set a date for the next animation and scripting developers meeting.

Mario Voigt - about perspective

This is first to say 'thanks' to Mario Voigt for updating the Clonesp extension. I'm busy these days, so I'm not keeping up with what I should be doing for Inks. However, it seems to me that the fact that there are now two developers on this project means that it should go to Gitlab (or a similar). I hardly know anything about Gitlab, so I don't know where to start. If someone would like to give me a pointer or two, I could try to get that going. Or if someone can simply do it for me (and Mario) that would be welcome. Andrew

I'm going to raise a bug for a developers meeting to discuss animation and a couple of other related topics I have on the backlog. I've already had a chat with a few developers and got some feed back from other interested parties as well as having long discussions with a-l-e from the Scribus team so I can pretty much fill out an agenda, but I'm open to suggestions.

Browser support for animated SVG Animated SVG files with JavaScript as the animation type are supported by all major browsers. This means that your animation will work and look the same in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Unfortunately, if you choose CSS, not all properties work the same in these browsers. Please see the differences below: AnimationChromeFirefoxSafariEdge Morph 53+ - - 74+ Filter - Yes - - Move on path (linear) Yes Yes Yes Yes Move on path (curved) 56+ 72+ - 74+ *CSS chart* Also good to know: Safari doesn't support negative values for the dash-offset property. Color transition animation is limited for JavaScript and CSS, too. You can animate a smooth color transition from color to color, but not from gradient to color or from color to gradient. Inkscape Developer Meeting: Tomorrow

Dear Developers, Marc has accounted a developer meeting for tomorrow. It's a short 30 minute meeting where we can get together to talk about the previous 8 days of development and anything that has come up. He's said that he preferences IRC the freenode chat channel #inkscape- devel but the developer channel on https://chat.inkscape.org will also be available and logging the meeting.
