Inscape crashes since installing v0.48 on WIN7

Hello, the following problem i have on AMD dual core 3000+ with windows7: since the installing of inkscape v.48 the "incscape-einstellungen" (in german) or shift+contrl+p leads to a complete crash. reinstalling on v.47 doesn't fix the problem. may you can follow the example an find the reason... greatings lars

I confirm that I've installed the dev libs（The latest version）. The file gtkmm-2.4.pc exist at all in C:\devlibs\lib\pkgconfig\ . So first of all, please confirm that you've installed the dev libs. Secondly, does the file gtkmm-2.4.pc exist at all in C:\devlibs\lib\pkgconfig\ ? Before running btool, did you run mingwenv.bat? LPE PowerStroke

Hi all, Because my GSoC student had no progress at the midterm evaluation deadline, I decided to fail him for GSoC. But since I was screaming so loud at LGM that this summer we would have a PowerStroke LPE, I couldn't escape coding it myself. Too bad, I should have applied for GSoC as a student myself... For those interested: I think the PowerStroke LPE is ready for some playing and testing. You have to build Inkscape 0.48+devel with experimental LPEs enabled. To see clearly what happens, you have to apply a stroke to the path, and no fill. I do not yet know whether I am going to take the effort to properly handle cusp nodes... ;) I know it is buggy, so please only mail *ideas* for improvement, etc. thanks! Johan [1] You have to build Inkscape with "#define LPE_ENABLE_TEST_EFFECTS", otherwise the LPE won't show in the LPE dialog. (uncommenting line 9 in src/live_effects/effect.cpp will do the trick)

I read the document at http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Win32Port. I do vevrything follow it. But my os is windows 7. I don't know what I can do ? To be able to help you we need more details. For example, which instructions did you follow? Have you read the wiki on inkscape.org? Have you installed the devlibs? If so, in which directory? Apparently you're using windows, but which version? And why do you want to compile inkscape at all? Our latest v0.48 release is very fresh and up-to-date Regards, Diederik

It just happens that the vast majority of people want to run at the mention of "maths." :P You might as well replace everything with transformation matrices... If you want to reason in maths terms, in my proposal: - The Tiles tab corresponds to the current "x,y" coordinate approach - The Radial tab corresponds to a "radius, angle" coordinate approach What prompted me to this suggestion is that recently, I wanted to design a simple gear (but still a bit more complicated than what the LPE offers). I ended up doing the rotation manually because it was faster than opening a tutorial to find out what in the world rows and columns were supposed to do for rotations. I just wanted to duplicate the pattern exactly 6 times in a rotation. A lot of people would want to do that for simple designs such as flowers, clocks, round patterns etc., and they probably don't want to need a maths degree for something that basic. Good point about other options missing in the Cloned Tiles interface though. So right now, here's a recap on what me may find missing with the current interface: 1. Location: Move to Objects, add a shortcut, open a docker? 2. On-screen guideline. The default will be as currently, but if you select the object and either a straight line or a line with two segments, I'd like a drop-down to appear allowing you to choose it as the guideline for the transformations, so there's no need to resort to tricks to add spacing to tiling, to choose a centre of rotation, etc. 3. The ability to switch between % and absolute values. 4. Add skew. 5. An Easy, intuitive way to do radial clones. At the very least, add a button in the Rotation tab for "Rotate around centre", and maybe add a "Divide sphere by n" times so that people don't have to calculate the exact angle. Of course, people would want the ability to choose what that centre is, which is where the guideline comes in. An alternative approach would be to add a Radial Align option in the Align Tab. It'd rotate the clones several times around the centre of rotation. Anything else? I do believe that this is an area where an improvement in just the interface will provide very big returns to users.

Hello, all, My name's Mike, and I have been an avid Inkscape user for several years. For a year as a web designed I used Inkscape almost exclusively despite the fact that my station was equipped with Adobe Illustrator. I also love and support open source projects, so I figured the two fit. I'll spare the rest of my intro and get to the point. Recently Pi Mu Epsilon, a national mathematics honor society of which I am a member, announced a seal redesign contest to commemorate their centennial in 2014. Each chapter in the country could submit a design. This last month in Pittsburgh, at Mathfest, the four national semifinalists were unveiled, and mine, created entirely using Inkscape, was one of them. I have it attached as an SVGZ file. I wanted to share and offer it as a possible showcase addition. You will notice that I left many of my alternative design elements present in the file, but if you export the page at 300dpi you will see what I submitted to the contest. Thanks very much, Mike

Inkscape docs moved to Launchpad

Hi all, Inkscape's doc stuff (mainly tutorials po files) has just moved from the old Sourceforge svn to Launchpad. The project url is: https://launchpad.net/inkscape-docs. Feel free to use it if you need to report a bug or request (you can still use the translators list, of course!) The maintainer and driver of this project is the Inkscape Administrators group, and the trunk owner is the Inkscape Developers group. In order to get a local checkout of the files, please use the following command: # bzr checkout lp:inkscape-docs You can create a local branch instead, but I suggest that you use a checkout so that using it is as easy as is was with svn. Please refer to the wiki (http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Working_with_Bazaar) if you need some details about bazaar (just replace lp:inkscape with lp:inkscape-docs).
