Command bar/Snap bar positions

Hi, I just deleted my preferences file and restarted the latest bzr version of Inkscape. I see that the command bar (file/print/etc.) and snap bar are both vertical and on the right side. I really don't like this and prefer them the way they were. Is there a way to move them back? There was recently an option at the end of the command bar to select the preferred placement but it seems to have disappeared. I think that unless there is a compelling reason to set the default to have the bars on the right, the default should be as before. I can't think of any other software that has the file/print/etc. icons on the right. In addition, changes like this mean that a lot of documentation screen shots have to be updated so the changes should really be necessary. Thanks, Tav

It includes small script which integrates external UniConvertor into Inkscape 0.47/0.48pre1 installation. So right now Inkscape win32 users can upgrade Inkscape import/export features! And it would be great to discuss with Inkscape developers further development of integration with our project because in next version very interesting features are scheduled. TO THE DEVS. Hi guys, In the light of the proposed Guidelines for Organising LGM http://create.freedesktop.org/wiki/Conference_2011 it would be great to know, as a team, if : a) You have enough information to make a call on the proposed LGM venues for 2011? if not, what are you missing? b) You had enough time for a round of internal discussions to see whether a significant portion of your team will make it to any of the 3 possible venues? If not, how much time would you like to have for such a round before making it a team decision? c) You are in the end satisfied by the process? if not please give some hints on how to improve this process. d) You are ready to make your call about the venues? if yes, please make it now, if not please tell us when, and maybe why! Parallel questions: e) Do you think the guidelines are helpful? if not, are they useless? can we improve them or should we simply remove the code? f) What do you think of the bidding process? Should we keep it as it is, a one-year process? or should we make it a two-year process? And do you think again you have enough information to make a real choice? Please explain. compilation of Inkscape on win64

Hi all I tried to compile inkscape on vista64, following the information on http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Win32Port. I downloaded both the 32 bit and the experimental 64 bit TDM-MinGW 4.5.0. With both distributions it was a no go. Building buildtool.cpp fails. Has anyone having similar experiences? Any suggestions (is it known not to work with MinGW 4.5.0, but with the former 4.4.1 release?)? Thanks a lot. Regards Kris PS: I started exploring compiling on windows, because the dev-version on http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32/?M=D is a bit outdated ;-)

extension autocompletion on save

I only tested it on Windows but as far as I can tell, if you save a file and don't explicitly type the extension, the file will be saved without one, so instead of "myfile.svg" you only get "myfile" and then the OS doesn't recognize it as an SVG file. It would be nice if the dialog recognized when no extension was typed and would add it to the file name according to the "save as type" combo box.

Fwd: Cairo rendering progress

Guys, Please check out Krzysztof's work so far. Flat color, gradients, and now patterns are already rendered with cairo; clips and masks, filters are off. lp:~tweenk/inkscape/gsoc-cairo The most exciting is that in my testing, on flat color and gradient files it's now faster very noticeably, from 30% to twice as fast depending on file and resolution. It's with cairo 1.8.8, no GPU acceleration (which as far as I know is not usable until cairo 1.10 anyway). -- bulia byak Inkscape. Draw Freely. http://www.inkscape.org

Hello Developers, I was looking at the old files I do see that the node and a few others are with only four fingers as per Bug #598821 on launchpad I might be wrong on this, but it's been that way for awhile. check here please. https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/598821 I have a branch for the new ones I have completed them. I have a few tools I have added to my version of Inkscape I will double check them and give descriptions for these tools on launchpad for a possible inclusion. I am also back on board to helping with bugs, fixes, and new features translations as well if needed. P.S. As for testing I have some new systems to try it on. PDF+LaTeX: extension of tex file?

Hi all, I have an important question about the extension of the generated TeX file when using the PDF+LaTeX option. Right now, it generates an imagename.pdf file and an imagename.tex file. However, if a user has chosen the same name for the image as his tex document file, the tex file is overwritten. A suggestion at Launchpad proposes to create not a .tex file but a .pdf_tex file instead. I am inclined to go with this option, as this also enables use of different export settings for pdf+latex and ps+latex and eps+latex... Extended Input settings not stored permanently

The input devices settings (for extended input, e.g. tablet) have changed some time ago to a different format. Now, I can set the stylus device to Screen to have it pressure sensitive as expected, and it is also stored as this in the preferences.xml, but on reload if forgets this setting. My stylus device is called Stylus0, the eraser Eraser0. Setting the eraser to screen mode, in the preferences.xml I see something like <group keys=";;;;;... axes="x;y;pressure;xtilt;ytilt;wheel" mode="screen" id="E:Eraser0" /> but no such entry for stylus or Stylus0 exists and is created... -- cheers, Alex

Hi, First of all and because I am new to this list I want to thank the Inkscape Developers for their awesome work they did. I was recently programming an extension for Inkscape and so I had different (general and specific) questions: - Is there a group of developers, who are just or mainly doing their work on extensions ? - Is the idea of extensions still in the roadmap of Inkscape? - What criteria _do_ extensions have to fulfill to get into the next release ? - Is there a kind of an Extension-Repo ? - And is it planned to include Extensions into Inkscape like we all know it from Firefox (Online -Repo connected to the program itself or Online-Repo providing "one click" installation. Again, thumbs up for all developers - developing an extension was very easy and understandable. cheers, _Christoph
