Hi, When did anyone actually last use masks and clipping paths? We advertize that it's possible now to edit applied masks and clipping paths on canvas, but it really doesn't work at all. Alexandre

View>Scripts doesn't work

I realize we're close to a release, and this would effect translations, but it'd be nice if we could get this fix in. Tell me if I'm crazy :) https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/406578 I imagine that if we don't fix it, Linux distros will have to distro patch it. Which would be a shame. --Ted

Fix for Bug #423326 (Untranslated file types)

Hi, I've attached a patch (tested on Vista and XP) to the following bug report. [Bug #423326] Untranslated file types https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/423326 It fixes some gettext calls in the win32 open/import dialog (i18n fix only). The strings are already translated (they are shared with the linux/mac dialog) and the fix doesn't require an inkscape.pot rebuild. :) It's a low priority bug, but since it affects the UI it would be nice to have it fixed in 0.47. POV-Ray export patch.

Hi, I just filed a bug report for POV-Ray export which is broken in 0.47pre4. It appears to have been broken by a move to lib2geom where the path vector includes an extra closing segment even if the path is already closed (see 2geom/path.h). This resulted in extra lines being written out. In addition, there was a problem that existed in 0.46 where paths created by Text->Path may not have their last point exactly on top of the first point (differing sometimes by 0.0002 px). In this case, POV-Ray considers the path open and skips it. I've attached a patch to the bug report that fixes both problems. I know this is late in the 0.47 release process but as it stands, export to .pov format is useless (POV-Ray fails to process the .pov file due to the extra badly-formatted lines). The patch only effects pov-out.cpp which is used only by POV-Ray export so it shouldn't break anything. The bug URL is: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/451588 Tav

Adjust kerning from the text&font dialog?

Hello, why is it impossible to adjust text kerning from the font&text dialog? It has the same text so you can put the cursor somewhere or select something without cluttering the drawing with flashing cursor or some other view obscuring stuff. Sadly, the alignment keys do not work in the dialog. There is a more general problem of drawing being obfuscated by selection. For example, if I select an object the dashed selection frame obscures the objects with which I want to align the currently selected object. Thanks Michal

Hey All, Of course my HDD is finally failing (I did know it was coming) and will not have access to my computer for a few days until the replacement arrives. I will do what I can via my phone in the meantime, but committing patches will be something I obviously can't do as I won't be able to test first. Will be back up and running as soon as I can be. nsis builds

Hi, Synfig (2D vector animation, Gtkmm as well) team has just released 0.62.00 with basic SVG 1.0 import. However they have problems building Windows version, e.g. localization support is disabled for some reason. Could anybody please help them with NSIS and the rest of the environment? There is a very annoying regression introduced in 0.47 development cycle, which was reported in bug #365458. It would be great to see it fixed before 0.47 final release.

Python dependencies for extensions on all platforms need common min versions

While the topic raised in the versioning scheme thread mentions a general API version possibly separated from the program version, bug #448285 "lxml version bundled with Inkscape is old" <https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/448285> brings up an issue that could be discussed and solved for 0.47 (especially as 0.47pre4 has just been branched). Could there be a central document on Inkscape.org available for all future extension developers (and package maintainers) that defines the python version and necessary python modules for the current release and lists the minimal versions every Inkscape installation needs to provide for the extension-system out-of-the-box? Or could this be handled entirely by the configure and packaging scripts, which then create an updated 'README.python' document included in the 'share/extensions'? ~suv
