There's a lot to say about this new release...you might prefer to see it immediately..so, start from here: http://inkscapegallery.net/home I worked hard for three months to build gimpgallery (http://gimpgallery.net)and it has been recently released... So i had many ideas about how to improve inkscape gallery, i was tired and anxious at the same time... The second feeling won and i'm here to list what i've done in the last days: *The home page* It is a complete section with 4 subsections, "from the inkscape's world", "highlight on", "special sections" and "a little taste of inkscpae gallery". *4 new sections called:* fresh, mostvoted, older and popular *The "inkscape galleria"* it is a slideshow made with a jquery plugin labeled "galleria",indeed. It is quite smart and fast, just to give you another way to see what is best in inkscape gallery: images! *The user's "inkscape galleria"* Every user has his own "galleria" , just click on the link in the title block of each image content *Some layout improvements* In a big website you will always have something you fixed with a workaround, not in the best way, in other words... I've found better solutions now *The "from the inkscape world" section* It is the upper section in the home page. This was not an hard work but is important i mean, just because i'd like to work together with other inkscape based website. *The wysiwyg editor* we have a simple wysiwyg editor now. It works only for logged in users, anyway *The antispam framework* we've never had critical spam problems, you can directly publish in inkscape gallery only when logged in, indeed. we have user profiles, with an email field and i wanted to keep it safe from spam even if you need to be logged in to view the user profiles... (maybe not anymore in the future...) Anyway, the email field is protected from spam, now *The gimpgallery promo* I wanted to make you know about gimp gallery. It is another image gallery website for a free image editor and it is even more advanced compared to inkscape gallery, actually. It is freshly born and quite empty, i had to borrow some images from inkscape gallery so, if you're a gimper, go there to publish your images! This is what, i hope you to like it, there's always something to fix, to improve but that's inevitable (especially on IE) :-) i'm planning the next steps to bring inkscape gallery to the next release! can inkscape have multiple pages, and export them to a PDF?

Hi all, The ability to export multiple pages to a PDF would enable: - creating slide presentations - creating books Because at the moment there is no nice way to make neither slide presentations nor books in linux or bsd. Both ooimpress and scribus have very, very bad user interfaces compared to inkscape. Are there any plans on this direction? Thanks for any info. Code cleanups

Hello all, I have some discussion points on code cleanup topics: 1. isnormal.h is not used anywhere in the code, can we remove it? 2. isinf.h defines a lower-case macro. Can I add to the coding standard that all #defines should be capitalized? 3. sigil spacing. Apparently most of Inkscape's code puts no space between sigil (*/&) and the following variable name. The coding style document doesn't explicitly mention this, shall I add it? So: "int const * get_int(double &johan);" Cheers, Johan

2geom gsl dependency issue

Hi, With the latest 2geom update I'm unable to build on Xandros. I'm seeing ./2geom/numeric/vector.h:76: error: -1'gsl_vector_ispos' was not declared in this scope The version of libgsl0 I have there is 1.8 On Ubuntu 8.04 I have version 1.9 I think it would be good if we could keep compatibility with 1.8 at least for a while still.

Here's a recent email on the Tango list discussing icon workflow. There are some interesting aspects to it, and Jakub explains the rationale for various aspects fairly well. Those include metadata "abuse", layers, gradients, shared styles, export, etc. Thought this might spur a little discussion and/or tweaking of some Inkscape aspects.

By the way, with the new sliders, you can no longer use directional keys to modify size in the Calligraphy tool. It's a pity, because they could be used for more precise value adjustments (it's hard to get a change of exactly 1 with the sliders). Also, I was hoping for keyboard shortcuts to be available to the pencil tool as well, so... Refer to my proposal for the pencil interface: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Vector-brushes I don't have problems with the integer being replaced by a slider, but I'd still like to be able to control it somewhat with keyboard shortcuts. Though I suppose the issue Could be easily side-stepped by entering a value 5 to 10 times smaller in the second field of my proposal, so that you drag the slider more freely...

I've tried the new smoothing values! It's much better than before, so thank you very much! But I think the maximum value could be even smoother. In KOffice's Karbon14, if you choose "Curve" and "Exactness 20" for example, you get an absolutely crazing level of smoothing, i.e. you get only 2 nodes: Inkscape with 100 smooth: http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/4382/inkscapepk6.png Karbon14 with Curve exactness 20: http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/355/karbon14hw2.png Is it possible to make the slider logarithmic? This way you get your raw values, but at maximum, most curves produce only 2 nodes. A center-ish value is normal smoothing.
