Font attributes not available in Inkscape

Hi Often after designing a font with FontForge the attributes (Italic, Bold or others) are available in LibreOffice or Scribus but not in Inkscape (even in latest Trunk releases). And sometimes it happens to commercial fonts too. Is that a naming question ? And what is absolutely needed to make the attributes available in Inkscape ? Thanks in advance, ivan

Default Palette

Dear devs, I've had some complaints that Inkscape's default palette isn't that welcoming to new users. It's too harsh and varied. A number of users have asked me personally why we don't use the Tango palette as our default palette and move Inkscape default to a new name. I don't actually know which palette would be the best to have as the default. Would a poll be a useful way to find out? To aid, I've committed a soc2gpl script so we can have a look at LibreOffice palettes for comparison. Best Regards, Martin Owens

Problems attempting to compile inkscape-0.92.3 for Mac using Mojave

I followed the directions in /inkscape-0.92.3/packaging/macosx/README.txt The last step "LIBPREFIX="$MP_PREFIX" ./osx-build.sh a c b -j 5 i p -s d” returned the following error messages at the end of the output Configure failed Package requirements (cairomm-1.0 >= 1.9.8 glibmm-2.4 >= 2.28 giomm-2.4 sigc++-2.0 >= 2.0.12 ) were not met: No package 'cairomm-1.0' found No package 'glibmm-2.4' found No package 'giomm-2.4' found No package 'sigc++-2.0’ found I captured all of the output to a file if it would help for me to post it somewhere. How do I fix this? Also, the link to the Doxyen docs on the website is broken. Safari says it can’t connect to the server.

Python scripting support (work in progress)

Hello, I've been playing around with adding Python support to Inkscape for some time. In contrast to the current extension system that runs the interpreter externally, this allows to use Inkscape functionality via Python code. Progress has been slow, since I am new to mostly anything necessary to implement it (C++, CMake, GTK, git, even Python). I decided to do the implementation manually (without SWIG, Boost.Python, etc.) since there's already enough new stuff for me to deal with. At the current state, there is not much to show, but some of the infrastructure is in place: * Inkscape-integrated Python console with basic command history and limited coloring (different colors for log messages, input, output and errors) * A pane to select Python files and run them * A rudimentary set of bindings: * Arbitrary Inkscape verbs can be run * Files can be opened * Files can be saved. Selecting the output file type on basis of a MIME type, i.e., export to other file types than .svg is supported, but the user interaction dialog for the export settings pops up. * PNG export * Listing and activating desktops (open files) * Running Python scripts from the command line is possible, although only in non-GUI mode for now. Since the basics are working I decided it would be a good point to share the code and check if you think this is a direction worth pursuing. Especially, since some design decisions that should be discussed beforehand are ahead. Please let me know how to submit the code. Website Will be Down in two days

Dear Developers, Translators and affable Users of Inkscape, The Inkscape website at inkscape.org will be down for upgrades soon. This is dependent on when bryce is available for DNS change over. The process involves moving the website to the new CentOS 7.6 server from OSUOSL which is now setup, you can reach this new server by manually setting your /etc/hosts for inkscape.org to 140.211.9.79 and visiting https://inkscape.org Everyone is invited to visit the new site, it looks exactly like the old one. To see if it's still working correctly. It now uses python3 and django 1.11, so there's quite an upgrade planned for all the tech. But so far it's holding steady. The plan is to display this message to users, English only. http://140.211.9.79/ while we move the database and sync up the media. Best Regards, Martin Owens
