does inkboard work?

Thinking back, I can't remember successfully sharing a document since the rewrite of inkboard. I have on occation been able to connect to google talk and chat with the embedded pedro client. Today I installed a local wildfire server to remove as many variables as possible. Now I can't even connect. Inkboard gives "login: no second SASL challenge offered by server." So my question is this. Who has gotten inkboard to work recently? And how did you do it? Aaron Spike

Remaining critical bugs for 0.45

With the bug hunt out of the way, the last bit of bug fixing work is to attend any MustFix bugs. These are extremely serious bugs such as ones that cause frequent crashes, or that risk bad data loss. I've gone through the current (as of 1/8/07) bug list and separated out the ones that a) we don't have enough info to debug, b) are out of our hands anyway, or c) don't cause crashes or data loss. Please review this list and identify any you can show to be must fix bugs. For a bug to be nominated to be a MUST FIX bug, it must also include a willing owner who can work on it right now, and some form of a plan for what to do about it. (Otherwise, blocking on it may prove unproductive.) 0.45 Critical Bugs

Hi all, I've gone through all of the critical bugs (level 9) that are still open and knocked out all the ones that are still needing info or that don't lead to crashes/deadlocks/dataloss/etc. These are the bugs that remain: 1633884 make check failure in svg-color.cpp 1633685 Crash on undo connector 1630756 memory limit 1 GB 1630101 crash inkscape click in connectors network align 1624076 Crash after changing canvas size fields by click 1612057 memory limit at 1GB 1587063 Infinite loop / Deadlock on Windows 1576715 Crash when ungrouping connectors 1565938 crash in sp_font_selector_size_changed 1557355 Crash when clicking on the "Object style" button 1551606 Crash when selecting font 1547502 ** Inkscape crash when Text dialog called 1543598 Crashes when in Latin1 path name 1537529 CRASH with shape tool and popup menu mouse clicks 1503564 win2003 SP1: crash on start 1499971 detect and warn about installed libsmooth 1467137 Shrinking a pattern causes lock-up 1441003 flowRoot error with inkscape's svg It'd be a miracle if all of these were closed prior to the 0.45 release. There is only one bug that I am truly concerned with for the release (marked ** above), but even that one is not being hit by everyone (although I suspect one of the other font bugs is a dupe of it). What do others think? Are there any bugs above that you feel would ruin Inkscape 0.45 if we didn't fix in the release? Or any bugs that aren't listed, that you think should be? Bryce

Inkscape svn head unfrozen - return to regular development

With the 0.45 release branch now established, all developers may now return to regular unfrozen development on svn head. :-) Changes for the 0.45 (like translations, bug fixes, tutorial updates, etc.) will need to be committed to both HEAD and the release branch. Bryce

Hi all, ACSpike and I have created the release branch for Inkscape 0.45. With this, we are now ready to move to into Feature Freeze. All further release work (translations, tutorial updates, bug fixes, etc.) will need to be done on the release branch. You can check it out like this: svn checkout \\ https://inkscape.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/inkscape/inkscape/branches/REL… \\ inkscape-0.45-release-branch Note that whereas in previous releases, the branch was made AFTER the feature freeze; this time we're doing it BEFORE the feature freeze. The reason for this is to enable svn HEAD to return to regular development. So please, if you have changes that must go into the release, be sure to commit to both the release branch -and- to svn HEAD. Bryce

Josh, I think showing off the improved gradients would be cool. Wear a black turtleneck :) Can you also demo how blur works ? Showing off the new about screen should really wow people (it certainly wowed me). "plain svg" is 1.2 not 1.0

saving as plain svg creates an svg document that claims to be svg 1.0 and yet contains things like flowRoot and flowRegion from 1.2 Is there any way to flatten an inkscape document to plain valid svg 1.1? Its a bit inconvenient to have to use "convert to text" on each text flow in the document

Our BOF is on. I figure we can give 3-4 short demos (like 5 slides or so) of different aspects. I have offered to do one on layers / GIS usage. Here are some other suggestions for others: * Release .45 features * Showing gradient/blur features - the new about dialog is awesome - we need someone artistic that can show how this is done (Josh ?). Maybe this can show the use of a tablet as well. * any other favorite features I think it's important to keep the demos short so there is lots of time for questions John

Effect->Color->Brighter

Hi, I am having trouble understanding the logic of the Color Brighter effect. The Color Darker effect is quite simple... it takes each RGB component and multiplies it by 0.9 resulting in moving the color 10% of the distance towards black. I would have thought that the Brighten effect would move a color 10% of the distance towards white. Instead it has logic that changes Black (0,0,0) to (10,10,10), any R, G, or B value less than 10 to 11, and any R, G, or B value greater than 10 gets divided by 0.9. This results in a greater change, the brighter the source color. A simple replacement for the current Brighter effect would be: r=int( (25.5 + 0.9 * r); g=int( (25.5 + 0.9 * g); b=int( (25.5 + 0.9 * b); One can see easily see that these equations have the right limits for what I would have expected. arrowhead color bug

Arrowheads that remain black regardless of line color remains a problem. There are various bug postings for this - some showing closed others showing open. All have been given a priority of 5. Yet this is a real usability issue. I've tried to look at the code without success but it seems that the arrowhead takes the alignment from the line so it should also be able to take the color. Can someone have a go at this before .45 ?
