SPAM on sourceforge bug reports

Hi all, A bug I reported has been heavily spammed for a while: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/? func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1429049&group_id=93438 Is there anything to do about it? Is it Inkscape's problem of Sourceforge's problem? Thanks for any hint. windows command line options

Hello, I have not subscribed to this list and probably won't, so I won't see any replies. The reason I am writing is because of the command-line options under windows. I am intending to use Inkscape via the command line for an ongoing project, and although I won't necessarily need to see the output, it would be nice. The FAQ says to send an email here if a user thinks it would be nice to include an official command-line version of Inkscape for Windows, so here it is. Thanks for an excellent piece of software. I have been enjoying learning and using Inkscape a lot! Matthew

Inkscape crashes on OS X

Hi all, dev build from yesterday (17 July 2006) starts but crashes as soon as anything is drawn on the canvas. to be precise it crashes when I stop drawing the first object. In the terminal I got these messages: (inkscape-bin:25499): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale. terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error' what(): locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid Emergency save activated! Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now. If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it. the first part: --- (inkscape-bin:25499): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale. --- is written when Inkscape starts. The rest is written when Inkscape crashes. It seems to be a locale problem. I use Mac OS X is English and this is the output of "locale" --- jiho@...993...:Applications$ locale LANG= LC_COLLATE="C" LC_CTYPE="C" LC_MESSAGES="C" LC_MONETARY="C" LC_NUMERIC="C" LC_TIME="C" LC_ALL="C" --- If this is not simple and does not come from my system I'll fill a bug report. Regarding locales I used a small app which removes unused languages from the system BUT this should only remove .lproj files and it should have kept at least English and French. I'll be curious to see the output of locale on a different 10.4.7 system. For testing purposes, I posted the build on modevia even if it is not working. I'll remove it afterwards. NB: I removed .inkscape and .inkscape-etc to be sure it was not a configuration issue and the crash is still there. WEBFORM broken downloads on tucows

(dallas, and sherman) However when I tried to run them they gave me the following error 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem c:\\...\\inksca~3.exe c:\\PROGRA~1\\symantec\\s32evt1.dll. An installable Virtual Device Driver Failed Dll initialization. Chose \"Close\" to terminate the application. The version that I downloaded from sourceforge loaded fine. filedialog move

Hi all, I just moved the File dialog code to ui/dialog where it should be and fixed a minor error in its namespace. I adjusted the makefile_inserts for this. But let me know if this causes any problems. This is to get filedialog to fit into the dialog manager where it should be. Also, it is good to clean up before working on that Export dialog stuff we were talking about. bob

Improved rendering quality

I've modified Inkscape to render at a slightly higher quality by avoiding repeated normalizations in libnr/nr-compose.cpp. I've uploaded examples of the results to: http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/about-test-old.png http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/about-test-new.png http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/gradient-test-old.png http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/gradient-test-new.png The first two are the current "about" drawing, exported to bitmap using Inkscape 0.44 (old) and reasonably current SVN+changes to compositing (new). The second two just show the gradient in background of the "about" drawing, which shows the "problem" with current version of Inkscape more clearly (if you have a hard time spotting the difference, look for a dark band in the upper left corner in the old image, it shouldn't be there, and it isn't in the new image). Is this considered as interesting (if so, I'll try to clean up the patch and submit it to the patch tracker for review?), or will this become obsolete very quickly?

New hosting provider for Inkscape website

Hi all, A few weeks ago I mentioned that we'd be looking for new web hosting due to various problems we've had with SourceForge. For example, most of us probably noticed how atrociously slow wiki and screenshots were loading before, during, and after the release. Yesterday, the fine folks at Oregon State University's Open Source Lab (OSU-OSL) have been so kind as to give us a bare bones Xen virtual partition with gentoo, root access, and 10G of disk space. :-) http://inkscape.osuosl.org/ There's a lot left to do to get the machine set up and ready for regular use, but I've got apache up, and have directed our website to pull screenshots from the new system: http://inkscape.org/screenshots/ (Actually, the screenshots seemed to be loading fine at the time migrated them, but with SF who knows how long this'll last...) From now on, we won't have the loading problems. Next step will be to move the wiki over. This'll require setting up mysql, php, a brief downtime of the wiki, etc. which is all straightforward, but will take some time to do. As a plus, we'll be upgrading from the antique (and insecure) version 1.4.3 to the latest stable version, 1.6.7. Also, upgrading mediawiki will be considerably easier, so hopefully this'll help us stay atop the security fixes. Before we can move the remainder of the website over, we will need to set up account management tools, so we can easily provide ssh access to whomever needs it for web stuff. I'm guessing maybe a week or two? There are no plans at this time to move over anything else from SourceForge (mailing lists, svn, bug tracking, etc.) If it ain't broke... But there's no reason we can't move those things over and do them ourselves if we wish, we just need to ensure we have adequate sysadmin volunteers available to keep the services well maintained.
