Hi, Just for my curiousity: what has happened to updating ChangeLog? It's been more that 200 commits to SVN since 0.44 and only several changes are reflected, no changes in ReleaseNotes as well. Maybe it's just my schizophrenia of course :) Alexandre

Gtk 2.8 for 0.45?

Up through 0.44 we've stuck to the Gtk 2.4 requirement, in order to minimize dependency problems for users. When we jumped from Gtk 2.0 to 2.4, a lot of users had installation troubles that we had to spend a lot of time helping with, so we wished to avoid that as long as possible. Yet 2.8 has been out a while, and has some new capabilities that would be nice to rely on. 2.8 would be more compelling of a change than 2.6, so if we have to put people through the trouble of upgrading gtk, it might be better to move them to 2.8. I'd like to propose that we change the dependency requirements for Inkscape to 2.8. Doing this right now gives us a maximum amount of testing time before 0.45. Would anyone see an issue with doing this in this next release? Bryce

I haven't fully understood what you mean when you say 'merge OCAL in Inkscape'. If you mean simply to provide a bundled clipart library with inkscape (like most drawing programs have) I agree completely to that. If this is the case, we could also easily create a new tool which will show a preview of all the cliparts and will insert a selected one into the current drawing. Such tool would make Inkscape easier to use for diagram drawing, for example. However, it is clear that when you say merging you also refer to OCAL infrastructure (like ccHost). Hello there! It looks like the autobuilds on my server have been breaking since June 18th because of this: cp config.h.mingw config.h cd src && i686-pc-mingw32-g++ -g -Wall -o deptool.exe deptool.cpp cd src && deptool.exe /bin/sh: deptool.exe: command not found make: *** [src/make.dep] Error 127 Maybe I wasn't paying too close attention to the list and missed a configuration thing, or a new library bundle. Or maybe something else, because my server is kind of reluctant to run that deptool.exe executable. In any case, what do I need to get the builds to be built again? Greetings! Inkscape verbs for different Zoom percentages? (fwd)

Inkscape developers Is it possible to set up verbs (and keybindings) for different Zoom levels? (The file inkscape/share/keys/default.xml doesn't mention it if it is already possible.) If not are there any plans to make it possible soon? Since someone else expressed an interest in furthering the Adobe Illustator set of keybindings - and didn't follow up to my mail asking if they had made any progress - I started looking at creating a Macromedia Freehand style set instead/as well. (I plan to have it done as much as Inkscape allows within the 30 day trial period of Freehand.) One of the things this set of keybindings would need is various Zoom Magnifications at several different percentages, and also corresponding actions/verbs so that they could be assigned keybindings. (I was also confused and annoyed again by the use of ratios as zoom levels, leftover from Sodipodi which I find completely non-intuitive and hope perhaps they will at some point be replace with percentage zoom levels instead. It is incidental to the problem I'm trying to sort out at the moment but it would be a bonus if it could be fixed along the way.) -- Alan

A system that my computer club have used for over 20 years with great success is to have a board of directors (BOD) made of up to 9 positions, and every year we ask our members who would like to join the BOD, if 9 or less give their name then they become automatically the board for the next year, otherwise we run an election and whoever gets the most votes become a director. In practice we rarely have to run an election because there is not that many volunteers for that kind of job, and most directors chooses to continue. We don't have any limit on the number of terms one can be elected, something that has allowed to keep our best and most active directors for many, many years. Any director can be removed by a simple majority vote, something we never had to do. At the first meeting of the new BOD, we ask who would like to do what (president, treasurer, etc), and if needed uses a simple majority vote. This system allows to add new blood every year, avoids discarding good directors, is fair and quite simple to administer. With 9 directors we have enough position to have a few less active director without trouble. Joc
