Hi, I there an easy way to extract the icons in icon.svg into separate SVG files? I have used in my book a set that came with an old version of Inkscape. This set is out-of-date and incomplete. Thanks, Tav

Subversion is coming soon

Hi, all, Good news! I received an email from Sourceforge yesterday concerning Subversion service testing. This was in response to an email we sent them many months ago when they first broached the subject, where we requested that Inkscape be considered as a candidate as one of their test projects. This will start on the second week of next month. Quoting from the email: > Participating projects will be provided with Subversion service from > SourceForge.net as part of the Beta. Windows builds broken - help needed

This bug: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1379454&group_… is reported unfixed again in both win32-snap/ and in Daniel Diaz' builds. However, Bob Jamison has fixed this long ago, and this fix is verified in the builds he has personally created. So, whoever is responsible for, or in any way related to producing of, these builds, PLEASE fix this bug once and forever (asking Bob for help if necessary). Thanks! -- bulia byak Inkscape. I don\'t know if you are the right people to send you this, but I don\'t know who else to submit this to. I hope you pass it on to whoever it may correspond if it\'s not you the ones I should have sent this to. I just downloaded the Mac OSX build because a friend of mine recommended Inkscape, but when I open the application, X11 opens but nothing happens. I do get an Inkscape menu bar, but it only says Inkscape (no File, Edit, Window, Help menus...), and besides X11 doesn\'t list Inkscape as one of its applications. In fact when I quit X11, Inkscape remains open. Is there something I\'m doing wrong? Do I need anything else? I\'m running OS X 10.4.3, but as I\'m a total Unix newbie, I don\'t know how to compile anything, not to speak fixing something. Thank you very much for your attention and your time. Your work for the Open Source community is great, and I am grateful for there is people like you out there, interested in something else than money. New icon theme by Plácido Sousa

I've just committed a new icon theme created by Plácido Sousa. I think it looks really good and encourage everyone to have a look at it. I think some of these icons are clearer and convey their meaning a tad better than the current ones. I'd be interested in the others' opinions. You'll find the theme here: /share/inkscape/icons/crispy_icons.svg To use the new theme, copy that file in your personal Inkscape icons directory (~/.inkscape/icons) and rerun Inkscape. -- Jean-François Lemaire

SVG - Barcode

Hello all, I was doing some production work for some DVDs and wanted Barcodes on my production. I used inkscape and so I wanted to get svg barcodes. The problem was the only things I could get to make svg barcodes on my mac was (perl) (GD::Barcode) which creates a gif barcode but with the use of GD::SVG you can make svg barcodes. I found this to be way too silly and couldn't even get GD libs installed so being a perl programmer I used online guides to create SVG::Barcode module which has only simple dependancies on SVG module. I am making a preferences dialog for my own projects (90% finished), much like the screenshot above, it is in gtkmm (without using glade or libglade), hig compliant and written in a way that will reduce code size considerably compared to the gtk+ version. It would of course require some work to fit this into inkscape but i have done at least 50% already and i'm willing to do the other 50% as well. So let me know if i can contribute to this excellent project with this. -- Marco
