Hi, In the discussion about the store-as-zink-plugin I was advised to create good documentation so people know how to install and use the zink-plugin. I created a Wiki page at inkscape.org with the first documentation, but the link to the page is now removed from the frontpage in the revision: Revision 504 . . I hope to go on with the development, adding more compatibility and security and also hope the code will be added to CVS. Pim Snel

NEW: user's templates

Document templates (listed in File > New) are now first searched in the templates subdirectory of the user's profile directory (on Linux it's ~/.inkscape/templates), then in the system-wide Inkscape templates directory. This allows you to add your own templates on top of the list of standard templates, as well as override the default template with your own one (the default.svg in the profile directory has priority over the system-wide one). -- bulia byak Inkscape. Hi all, The good news is that svg2crs foo.svg | crs2xar > foo.xar is almost working. The bad news is that I can't figure out the "right way" to get inkscape units into inches. I found some constants in src/unit-constant.h which tell me that 90 units / inch is set at compile-time, but it seems like the svg file should contain something which makes that explicit. Of course, the svg spec only rambles on about user-agents determining something from their environment, but that seems way wrong for the uber-converter (what's the dpi of your terminal?) I guess svg was never intended to convey real-world dimensions? So, it looks like 90 units/inch is a good assumption, but I don't like to assume. Is there a "right way" to do this and/or is it something that inkscape should be writing into its svg? --Eric -- "If you only know how to use a hammer, every problem begins to look like a nail." --Richard B. Temp Mingw distribution is broken

Howdy, The build instructions for Win32 developers ( http://inkscape.org/win32/win32buildnotes.html) point to a zip file with a self-contained Mingw installation: <blockquote> *Note: Temporarily, I suggest that people use the preassembled Mingw working directory that we have assembled here<http://inkscape.org/win32/mingw-0510112028.zip>. It has the important pieces set up to compile the way we need them. Unzip it to c:\mingw.* </blockquote> This is great, except that the installation is missing some files. When I tried to build Inkscape on a fresh copy of Windows XP with this package, I encountered several build errors. To solve the problem, I unpacked the following official Mingw packages on top of the broken Inkscape-provided installation: gcc-core-3.4.2-20040916-1.tar.gz<http://prdownloads.sf.net/mingw/gcc-core-3.4.2-20040916-1.tar.gz?download> gcc-g++-3.4.2-20040916-1.tar.gz<http://prdownloads.sf.net/mingw/gcc-g++-3.4.2-20040916-1.tar.gz?download> mingw-runtime-3.9.tar.gz<http://prdownloads.sf.net/mingw/mingw-runtime-3.9.tar.gz?download> w32api-3.5.tar.gz<http://prdownloads.sf.net/mingw/w32api-3.5.tar.gz?download> This fixed the issues. Now that my Mingw install works, I've packed it up into an archive and placed it at www.swansontec.com/temp/mingw.7z. It would be great if someone with access to the server could replace the existing Mingw package with this one. crash of text and font dialogue

Hey guys! With latest CVS and an experimental Debian the text and font dialogue crashes right on trying to launch it. any clue, what might be wrong? Furthermore we're right now trying to do a script that makes it possible to extract the icons form the icons.svg in to single files. Let's see, how it works out. See you! David
