Hello, the new Document Preferences Dialog is now default in CVS. Please report any bugs you might find, and that are not mentioned here. Changes /wrt the old versions include: - included Carl's new snapping widgets by collecting everything snapping related on ond page - Grid and Guide widgets are on the same page - metadata widgets are spread over two pages, making the dialog height smaller - fixed 1366507 - grayed out license URI has too low contrast --> no longer grayed - fixed 1366504 - proprietary license should clean license uri - fixed 1357224 - no spinbutton tooltips - fixed 1232941 - minor grid quirks - implemented 1251393 (rfe) - canvas color should ignore bkg alpha value - dramatic reduction of code size due to usage of widget objects - used widget objects should be reusable by other dialogs, too - much more readable code; thus, less comments. still todo, but will be done before 0.44: - 1370648 - save as LGPL license not possible. huh? lgpl? ==> will remove LGPL from list - color picker windows don't close/hide together with doc prefs - on activedoc changed - set better DEFAULTS for grid + snapping Also, I would appreciate help on issues that apparently affect only the Win32 version: win: "dialog expands on startup" win: "license combo very wide" best ralf

Win 32 tablet support

There have been a number of bugs recently reported about problems with tablets on Win32: bugs 1281512, 1335301, 1379654, 1380883. These relate to either the mouse being treated as a pen, or the X and Y axis being reversed. Similar problems are known on gimp under Win32, and the problem seems to be in gdk. I made a patch to add #ifndef NOEXTINPUT around all the template code, which lets me compile without extended tablet support (the tablet will work as mouse or pen, but there is no pressure or tilt support). So I'd like to get this into CVS, what do I do next? The patch is conservative, there are no changes to the code unless NOEXTINPUT is defined. James

Compiling win32

Is compiling on win32 working for anyone? Mine is dying with: In file included from dialogs/../text-tag-attributes.h:7, from dialogs/../sp-text.h:20, from dialogs/text-edit.cpp:44: dialogs/../svg/svg-length.h:29: error: expected identifier before ',' token make[1]: *** [dialogs/text-edit.o] Error 1 but there is nothing visibly wrong with the file or included files...

NEW: stroke width indicator

In the statusbar, * The Stroke indicator also displays the stroke width of selection (averaged if there are multiple objects selected with different stroke widths), located to the right of the stroke color/transparency swatch. Left-clicking on it opens the Fill&Stroke dialog with the Stroke Style tab selected. Right-clicking on it opens a popup menu which allows you to choose the units for displaying the stroke width, as well as choose one of the presets to assign to selection. -- bulia byak Inkscape. NSIS installer

Hello, all! I'm seeing a clash of intentions with packaging/win32/inkscape.nsi (as of revision 1.14) and Makefile.mingw (as of revision 1.49.) inkscape.nsi is looking for "inkscape/README", while Makefile.mingw only copies "README.*" in the dist target. I suggest changing Makefile.mingw to allow README to be copied by dropping the dot in the filename. I noticed this now that I make'd clean. Newbie Q: Compile Error

Hi, I'm new to Inkscape. I'd like to compile the program on Windows. I've followed the instructions on the website however I'm getting the following error: $ make -f Makefile.mingw copy config.h.mingw config.h make: copy: Command not found make: *** [config.h] Error 127 Any idea what I'm doing wrong? The calendar contest on deviantART

I propose we give a crazy extension to it or put it on hold. My thought is that we can aim for the calendar to be ready for the middle of '06. We could then make it an 18-month calendar that will go through the end of '07. Doing this will give everyone time to work on new pieces and refine older ones. We'll also get better quality entries and hopefully people will get other great features to work with in the interim as well. I don't think that just extending it for a shorter period of time will do anyone any good. If we're going to associate Inkscape with any fund raising merchandise, we should aspire to give people their moneys worth. Any thoughts? -Josh
