Hi, I would like to have an option in "simplify" that puts the control points on pixel boundaries, in order to reduce the precision of the numbers in the svg file. Now every floating point number has 5 digits, whereas 0 or 1 digit would probably not make a visually significant change. -- lode

Tracker access

Hi, Could someone please set my SF id (mjwybrow) to be able to manage Tracker items? I've just noticed for example a OS X package feature request that I would like to comment on and close now we code to support it in CVS. In any case I'll need access once the connector code is added to the codebase after the release and the bug reports start coming in. :-) Thanks, Michael

Bug status for Inkscape 0.42 release

There's still a few more days before we officially kick off the bug fixing phase of the 0.42 release, however I'm going to start posting bug stats. For the 0.40 release we set a target of 150 points worth of bugs, but hit 360 points by the time we stopped counting. Pretty damn cool. :-) For this release, I'd like to up the challenge by setting our target to 300 points. We did it before without breaking much of a sweat, and we have over 200 bugs open currently, so I think this will challenge us to really beef up Inkscape's quality for this coming release. Once we've achieved the 300 point total, we'll doublecheck the list of critical bugs and identify ones that must be fixed. Hopefully we can close enough of these early that this will be a very short list. Submitted patch for ruler drawing bug (1236819)

Hello all, I have just submitted a patch for bug 1236819, which has to do with odd lines appearing on the ruler at high zoom levels. I have tested the fix only on the Linux build (on Ubuntu). I am very new to Linux and to Open Source development; this is in fact my first patch submission. Please do let me know if I have followed the correct procedures. Thank you, -K

Idea: Website header competition

Ages ago Bulia suggested that it would be a really good idea to have a more artistic header image for the Inkscape website. Given the success of the About Screen contest, I think an excellent and easy way to get such a header image would be to stage a similar competition. Does that sound like a good idea? win32 compilation error

Compiling on win32 is slightly broken at the moment. When it's going through the "doc" dir, msgfmt.exe gives an error dialog about intl.dll missing, and it errors out the compilation. The error in the console is: make[1]: Entering directory `C:/cvs/inkscape/inkscape/po' c:\gtk26\bin\msgfmt -o am.mo am.po make[1]: *** [am.mo] Error -1073741515 I can still run the build since the exe and dlls are taken care of prior to the docs in the compiling process. I figured I'd point it out anyway though since the build doesn't complete. -Josh
