Submitted patch for ruler drawing bug (1236819)

Hello all, I have just submitted a patch for bug 1236819, which has to do with odd lines appearing on the ruler at high zoom levels. I have tested the fix only on the Linux build (on Ubuntu). I am very new to Linux and to Open Source development; this is in fact my first patch submission. Please do let me know if I have followed the correct procedures. Thank you, -K

Idea: Website header competition

Ages ago Bulia suggested that it would be a really good idea to have a more artistic header image for the Inkscape website. Given the success of the About Screen contest, I think an excellent and easy way to get such a header image would be to stage a similar competition. Does that sound like a good idea? win32 compilation error

Compiling on win32 is slightly broken at the moment. When it's going through the "doc" dir, msgfmt.exe gives an error dialog about intl.dll missing, and it errors out the compilation. The error in the console is: make[1]: Entering directory `C:/cvs/inkscape/inkscape/po' c:\gtk26\bin\msgfmt -o am.mo am.po make[1]: *** [am.mo] Error -1073741515 I can still run the build since the exe and dlls are taken care of prior to the docs in the compiling process. I figured I'd point it out anyway though since the build doesn't complete. -Josh

Do we really need g77?

Hi, every time I run configure I wonder if we really need g77. Should this check be removed? checking for powerpc-linux-gnu-g77... powerpc-linux-gnu-g77 checking whether we are using the GNU Fortran 77 compiler... yes checking whether powerpc-linux-gnu-g77 accepts -g... yes checking the maximum length of command line arguments... 32768 BTW, a debian package of 0.42pre0 will be uploaded soon. The good news is that real C++ support (based on binary deltas and double compiling) is in CVS, and 1.2 is shaping up nicely for a release in the next few months. Release wardens for 0.42 release?

As we move to the next phase in the release process, it is time to select the two people who will be responsible for our final QA check. Our process is to have one person from the previous release, and add one new person. Last time, if I remember correctly, the release wardens were Bulia and Kees. That was Kees' first time and Bulia's second, so the rotation would have Kees and one new person. Jon, would you be available to serve in this position for this release? Kees and Jon, I suspect we may be ready to go into final release next weekend. Do each of you have sufficient time next weekend (and possibly on into the following week) to do this? Thanks, Bryce

Hi, I reviewed the win32 installer a week ago. This is in the patch pipeline [1233880] and the pre1 is already made with that. This addresses at least 3 severity 3 defects. I would like to see this in the cvs before hard freeze to get the translations updated.
