The file attachment which was sent by "inkscape-devel-admin(a)lists.sourceforge.net" was infected with the "document.pif Infection: W32/Mytob.AT@...1173... (exact)" virus. The file attachment was deleted from this message.

SVG Jabber Whiteboard mailing list

So, apparently there is enough interest in SVG whiteboarding over Jabber to have a mailing list! http://mail.jabber.org/mailman/listinfo/whiteboarding I'll be there, it would be nice if people that knew more than me would be too (David, Mental, etc.) I'm still planning on writing up what we have as a first draft JEP, I thinking starting the mailing list was Peter Saint-Andre's way of pushing me to get it done :) I'm sending an "Intro to Inkscape" e-mail right now, we'll see what response that gets. Apparently there is a project in JFCom to build a whiteboard... --Ted

Inkscape allways crash on startup,Why????

Hi, i use OpenSuse 10.0 and Inkscape allways crash on startup. I had this error with different versions from Suse and also with a 0.43+devel (Jan 27 2006) compiled on my host I run it under Gnome and i dont have the problematic KDE Baghira theme and the package gtk_qt_engine installed. I have post this problem a few weeks before but found no solution. Linked vs Embeded

We've been having a discussion in #inkscape about the feedback (almost complaints) about the way inkscape links to images by default instead of embedding them as a document creator would expect. The solution on balance we got to was: New Menu Item File->'Place Image' (same name used as adobe) which links to the image Change Menu Import to embed image data by default Add an ask box for when images are dragged and dropped for weather the images should be linked or embedded. Keyboard navigation... (F6, F8, ...)

We seem to have a bit of a problem now. It turns out that the reason F6 and F8 became 'broken', is that they are reserved by GTK for stock navigation when a splitter pane is involved in the UI. It turns out that F6 is used to switch between current panes, and F8 to switch to the splitter itself to allow for keyboard resizing. I don't think we can just arbitrarily remap those, since it's part of the accessibility project and was designed to coincide with the use of keys on other platforms/toolkits. So I think we're now faced with the decision to either not allow any GtkPaned widgets in our UI, or to give up F6 and F8. As a follow-up item, we probably need to do something I've been thinking of for a while and list out the different keys and how they're used on different platforms and in different applications. One thing tweaking things a bit for me is that on OS X, F9-F12 are used for basic OS-wide features, and other can be also (especially on laptops). http://guides.macrumors.com/Keyboard_shortcuts (the three links at the bottom of the page are quite helpful)
