Hi, I have been playing around with the command line arguments and have a couple of questions: 1. Does -p or --print work? 2. What is the use of -z or --without-gui? What is the purpose of -g or --with-gui? Inkscape seems to do the correct thing without needing these. Thanks, Tav

embedded image performance

Jon was right: "Then there's the size in memory that's needed for the full string node in the DOM tree, plus all the UI impact from having large strings kicking around, including the XML Editor window." The UberConverter is somewhat stuck creating embedded images because it is running on pipes, has to extracted embedded images from other formats, and I haven't layered 800 options onto it yet. This gave me a chance to play with inkscape during the debugging and the XML editor really crawls (this machine is getting old, but it's still dual AMD 2400's w/ 2GB ram.) I also noticed that if I save the svg out of inkscape, the linebreaks in the base64 data go away and gvim gets really mad, so there are a few issues to consider in any upcoming embedded image work on inkscape. http://scratchcomputing.com/tmp/bitmapfills.svgz I'm sure there's a way to do this better using <use> elements or something (particularly in this example, which has two instances of one image.) I'm just following the example from the embed_raster_in_svg.pl script for now. Hi, all, It has been about a month since the last update of the gtk library bundle. It has been mentioned that there is a minor bug in the previous version of Gtk in the last bundle. Therefore I spent a bit of time adding new libs and re-7-zipping the collection. www and a wiki party

I attempted to fix all of the broken images that I could find in the inkscape_web module. Please svn up and check for any broken files, let me know if you find any. I'll keep fixing. Something still isn't right with publishing via svn. Seems that there are a lot of files in the webroot that are not group writable. Will anyone object if I drop the wp directory from svn? Before the new year I had taken an evening or two to see if I could switch the wiki to mediawiki. Perhaps we need to think about having a wiki party day, where we can concentrate on getting that content moved to another wiki with better anti-spam measures. Any comments? Aaron

wiki spam and no chat

Sorry if this is something already widely known. I just came across some spam on wiki.inkscape.org. For example, see http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/InkscapeTerminology and lots of other edits by the same user, http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target=… First, how does one disable a spammer's account on the wiki? Second, I tried to ask this over IRC or something, but neither inkscape on freenode nor inkscape on conference.gristle.org would come up for me. Gristle didn't like my jabber requests either. Thanks.

more gradient options

Hi, I spent some time to find out what would SVG gradients future would look like since users would appreciate more gradients options than just linear and radial. We have multiply RFEs that are related to this issue. According to http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG2Reqs/ "SVG may include more types of gradient elements. Potential gradient elements include conical, rectangular, Gouraud shading, triangle mesh, Coons patch and shaped fill (with gradient offsets determined by the distance from the edge of the shape). [SVG 2.0]" So, more gradient options is currently considered for SVG 2.0. Currently even 1.2 is not ready, which means we might have more gradient options only in 3-4 years. I'm curious if we can live with it next 3-4 years or if we could somehow let SVG developers know we need it in SVG 1.2. What do you think? Alexandre
