Inkscape performance

Hello! I've been trying inkscape 0.44 some days in my work. My job is web designer and (sometimes) graphical designer. One thing i've observed during my work with inkscape is that the performace is lower than 0.43. When inkscape is open during more than 1 hour (aprox.) the drawing of vectors (and dialogs too) is too slow, sometimes dialogs appears without controls too. Then a restart is needed. I've installed inkscape from the .package in sourceforge homepage, and i use debian. ¿ Has anybody noticed this issue or is only a personal configuration problem ? ¿ There is something i can do to avoid this problem (installa some library, delete some files, compile from the source, ...) ? Trojan in Win32 binary?

Symantec Anti-virus is detecting Trojan.Zlob in Inkscape-0.44-1.win32.exe and also in uninst.exe once Inkscape is installed. I guess it has to do with a current update of the virus definitions because when I originally downloaded and installed Inkscape no virus was detected, however redownloading the binary immediately triggers the on-access scanner. I hope this is a false positive, but I would appreciate this if you would investigate this. And may I suggest pulling the binary from Sourceforge in the meantime to prevent possible inflections? So I was fighting with the Xfixes dependency in the Autopackage. Do the INKSCAPE_LIBS or LIKSCAPE_CFLAGS variables work like ./configure --help says they do? Even though I set and export them different values continue to end un in the Makefile. Aaron Spike

Inkscape #2 Project on SourceForge

In the latest SourceForge.net site-wide email, Inkscape is rated as the second top project for the last two-month period. Also, it's number one for some days now in activity, in the current statistics page. Due to the 0.44 release, it has surpassed many other famous projects. Congratulations to all! - Spyros Blanas

I was under the impression that a full unstable installation of fink would be 'dogfood' and only be needed be fink devs. Certainly, I have fink stable and have merely added the necessary packages from unstable as I needed them. I am certainly not going to suggest changing the wiki on a whim, but if there is some definite reason why my approach was inferior, I would most seriously consider changing it. Ben

Can't compile, can't find libgc

When I try to configure Inkscape 0.44, I get a message: checking gc.h usability... yes checking gc.h presence... yes checking for gc.h... yes checking for GC_init in -lgc... yes checking libgc version 6.4+... 6.3.255 no configure: error: libgc (the Boehm Conservative Collector) 6.4+, is needed to compile inkscape -- http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Hans_Boehm/gc I have libgc 6.7 installed, so I'm not certain why Inkscape doesn't like it.
