SVG Support in the Wiki

Hi All, I was in the process of trying to construct a wiki page for the spirograph extension I was working on a couple of months ago. There's not very much to say about it, but I've got an SVG of the output to demonstrate with. The SVG support in the wiki seems to be rather broken, as you can see: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Spirograph. Normally I'd just cut my losses and upload with PNG, it's just that I think the wiki of an SVG editor probably should have it's SVG support configured correctly. What do we think? Joel Holdsworth

Compiling with btool in Windows Vista

Hi Everyone, I'm just in the process of trying to get involved with the development of inkscape, and I've spent the last few weeks trying to compile it by various methods. The btool method (as suggested here http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Win32Port ), is the simplest way, and in the end, the only way I can see to compile inkscape in Windows (although I have tried several approaches). Inkscape can be compiled no problem on a fresh install of Windows XP - I tried it on Virtual PC this morning. However, (and you may already be aware of this), it does not compile properly on Windows Vista, my main OS. First, mingwenv.bat runs successfully, whether running in an administrator or normal console. But there's hitch on the next step. The problem relates to g++ I think. If I do the step: "g++ buildtool.cpp -o btool", I get back the response "g++: _spawnvp: No such file or directory". It is possible to get past this step by compiling with btool with cygwin. However once you try and run btool.exe, you get the output printed below, which you may notice contains the killer line "i686-pc-mingw32-g++.exe: _spawnvp: No such file or directory". I think this must all be a problem with g++ in Vista. I'm not sure how what the dev team can do, but I think the wiki should be updated at least. First and Second Ever SVN Commits

inkscape python needs lxml

Wiki and Planet Skins

you may have noticed that the wiki and the planet skins have been changed to come into line with the inkscape website. (im not sure if the wiki skin is the default yet, but if you want to set the skin as your default in users prefs, that will work - the skin is unimaginatively called "inkscape") if there are any problems with these, or you have some suggestions for improvements, feel free to discuss them, and i will try to include them... i intend to try to get the posts on the planet looking a bit better, maybe even displaying them in speech bubbles similar to http://planet.gnome.org/ cheers, ryanlerch

No, that one is definitely part of the calligraphic tool - it draws calligraphic strokes with all the same parameters and modes as usual, except they are guided. The thinning/thickening is quite different from that - it does not draw anything at all. Its only connection with the calligraphic UI is that it uses 10x of the calligraphic pen width as the thinning brush width, but it's a poor UI anyway because it's not very obvious. Effects error dialog

Could someone puh-lease help me. I'm translating the python extensions to use lxml and the effects error dialog is really driving me nuts. It is modal and it doesnt' stay ontop of the inkscape window. This makes it the most annoying dialog ever. This is a Win32 problem. I run and effect that generates an error. I switch to a text editor to fix the error. I click back on inkscape and the error windows is below inkscape so I have to minimize all the other windows and then move inscape to the left or two the right to read or close the dialog. To make matters worse the dialog is always placed in the middle of the inkscape window, so I have to move inkscape every time. I tried to hack the dialogs ontop hack for this dialog and failed. Help needed on OS X

I would need the output of this command: ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/libXine* Just copy paste the line above in a Terminal and then copy paste the output back in an email.
