How to get path label/id

Hi, I'm writing a Live Path Effect, and I'm trying to get the label and/or id of the path to which the effect is being applied. I tried this in the 'doEffect' method: Effect::doEffect_pwd2 (Geom::Piecewise<Geom::D2<Geom::SBasis> > const & pwd2_in) { LivePathEffectObject *myLPE = (LivePathEffectObject*)this->getLPEObj(); myLPE->defaultLabel(); ... ...but of course this returns the label of the path effect, not the path itself. Win32 devlibs update req

Can someone please update the win32 devlibs to the most recent versions of released libs? Specifically the gtk & glib portions are what would be helpful if possible. If this isn't very doable due to that flickering bug that was experienced, has anyone filed any bugs upstream about it? Cheers, Josh

Textbox with coloured background?

Hi everybody, I searched lists etc., but didnt find an answer to a quite trivial question: I need a text box with a coloured background. It should surround the text in a adjustable distance; the background should expand when more text is typed into the text box. Sorry to bore you with such a stupid thing - cant belive this "feature" really is for the wishlist? Greetings, Wolf

Win32 build broken?

Hi, Apparently there's something broken in the current win32 build with the new devlibs r22. Without the devlibs installed (or in a different location), Inkscape returns an error message stating that libgcc_s_slj-1.dll can't be found, and then exists. With the devlibs installed, Inkscape launches as expected. Reproduced with the modevia's file (10216) and a local build (10215). No problem with the trunk revision 10204. Regards. -- Nicolas

Big thanks everyone for checking out and adding to 'Them Cuts'. Yes, alex valavanis (quite a few alexes here, :).. That is exactly how i feel the 'papercuts' are. Also, thats why i did not want to 'contaminate' the bug db before you girls and guys see it. Papercuts not really being bugs in a programming sense and all... is it ok then to add these to launchpad using 'papercut' tag? FYI: https://github.com/jave/inkmacs "When a dbus link is established from an emacs buffer to an Inkscape desktop, it is then possible to call inkdoc or inkverb methods on Inkscape. The inkverb-* methods are interactive and theres a lot of them. So ‘m-x inkverb-calligraphic-prefs’ in a buffer using inkorg-minor-mode for example, will bring up the calligraphy preference ui. The inkverb-* methods are mostly ui related and take no arguments. The inkdoc-* methods are related to object creation and manipulation and are not (yet) declared interactive. Finding the right Inkscape operation in Emacs can actualy be much more efficient than using the menus in Inkscape. Especialy if you use some M-x booster such as Anything or Icicles." Inkscape Papercuts

Hi everyone! Long ago I have mentioned a little observation process with a few Inkscape users and mentioned some 'papercuts' that showed up. As I have mentioned it before, papercuts are not quite bugs, so I have started to enter them in a somewhat structured manner at http://cuts.thinking-garment.com/. A bloggish, hideous website with bad humor on top and a missing search function, among other things. Time permitting, I will continue to add more from the notes I made way back. Of course I will try to see if they still apply to newer Inkscape versions. I hope this is useful in some way. Please feel free to suggest how/where/why this could be more useful. Excuses for being so dreadfully slow. Alex

Inkscape meeting at Libre Grapics Meeting

Hi, Just tried to compile Inkscape trunk on my spanking new laptop (replacing my 6.5 year old one). It failed in 2geom with an error from the boost library. I used Fedora 15 beta which has boost 1.46 and gcc 4.6. Recent surge of spam in the wiki

In recent weeks, Inkscape's Wiki is increasingly targeted by (presumably) spam bots which create a new user and a new page with spam (including uploaded images) [1]. 1) Could the wiki use tighter rules for the creation of new users (captchas?) that can't be exploited as easily as apparently the current configuration? 2) Who does have admin credentials to change the current wiki configuration? 3) Who else does have admin rights to clean up (delete pages, block user accounts)? Gtk3 and libgdl

Hi All, I'm interested in upstreaming libgdl so that we can remove it from the inkscape codebase, but I notice that GDL has now been ported to Gtk3. Are there any plans in motion to port inkscape to Gtk3. Or is this something I could consider involving myself with. Best Regards Joel Holdsworth

Upstreaming Inkscape's libcroco

Curve sketching--Cornucopia

Hi, A while ago I asked the Inkscape list whether there was interest in an implementation of my curve sketching algorithm (see the thread at http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=24902605). There seemed to be interest and I wrote a cleaner (and much faster) version, although this took longer than I anticipated. There are still a bunch of improvements possible, but at this point it's quite usable. The code and a windows installer for a demo binary are available at http://code.google.com/p/cornucopia-lib/ and there's some documentation. I am completely unfamiliar with Inkscape's codebase, so the integration would need to be done by one of the Inkscape devs. As a proof-of-concept, however, I wrote a very crude replacement of the bezier_fit_cubic_r call with a call to Cornucopia in the pencil tool (patch attached--of course, you have to build and link to Cornucopia to try it). For the real thing, I'd need to find a better mapping from the "smoothness" slider in Inkscape to my myriad of parameters. Is someone interested in working on this? I would, of course, help in what way I can (although I'm pretty busy these days and my response latency may be high occasionally). Thanks, -Ilya

disabled viewbox attribute for symbols when using cairo export

Hi, I have a question about the handling or not-handling of the viewbox attribute in symbols when using cairo export. I tried to export a map from openstreetmap to pdf and got http://s1.directupload.net/file/d/2504/thghng78_png.htm as result.
