Help with CubicBezier in a closed Geom::Path::const_iterator

Hi. I have a problem. Its this: T get the last subpath of a Geom::Path::const_iterator whith a this options: end_open(), end(), end_default(), end_closed() and this subpath is not degenerated at the end. But never get a CubicBezier from the last subpath. Anybody can help me? Thanks in advance.

boost incompatibility

Dear all, I have discovered that inkscape 0.47pre4 to 0.48.4 are incompatible with boost versions greater than 1.45.0. The most noticeable symptom is that text is not rendered properly. This is because it is heavily clipped. The effect is similar to that described in the (dismissed) bug 875469. To demonstrate this bug, compile inkscape with boost 1.46.0 or above and run it. Pick the text tool, click anywhere on the canvas and start to enter some text. Only the bottom couple of rows of pixels of each character are displayed. If you convert this text to a path it displays properly. Another way to demonstrate the bug is to take some text and put it on a curved path. As you modify the nodes of the path it is possible to see the text rendered inside a staircase-like set of clip rectangles. This problem affects inkview as well as inkscape. I am compiling with gcc 4.4.7 and configuring it like so: CC="gcc" CXX="c++" CFLAGS="-O3 -fstack-protector-all -march=i486" \ CXXFLAGS="-O3 -fstack-protector-all -march=i486" \ LDFLAGS="-fstack-protector-all" ./configure I have tried different versions of all the dependencies of inkscape, including C compiler, libraries and kernel, and the bug is independent of everything but the version of boost. At this stage I have not tried compiling with a lower optimisation level, so it is possible this bug only comes out of the woodwork with -O3. Equally, it is possible this bug only appears on 32-bit platforms. Yours, Is.

PR for shortcuts

Hi, Since 0.49 is shaping up so well with regards to polishing, I'd like to mention yet another thing. A while ago I discovered that several of our long-time users who have been with us since forever didn't even know that we have one-key shortcuts for tools. I mean, for real. People who do real design with Inkscape and are mostly happy with it were quietly complaining that there were no simpler shortcuts. Imagine my surprise :) Since 0.49 now shows F* based shortcuts, how difficult would it be to patch it to show alternative shortcuts as well, after a "," character? Or would it be too confusing? P.S. I've seen this complaint many times before: people were asking if there was a way to configure Inkscape to use some one-key shortcuts for tools. Alexandre Prokoudine http://libregraphicsworld.org

Hi all, As the discussion on short-cuts is popping up. If it would be possible to do so... can Shift+Delete be mapped to remove selected and copy to clipboard? It is a quite common operation that I miss in Inkscape. Shift+Insert instead or additional to CTRL+V would be welcome too. Having multiple mappings to one tool/task? Cheers, Jelle

ruler coordinate system: scaling and offset

Hi, I implemented an idea how to temporarily solve bug #170049 [1] for many users: In short, I added scaling and offset for the ruler display and cursor position status display without affecting any of the internal coordinates. This allows to define an inverted coordinate system and does not need document versioning. However, precision might suffer and units are not saved in svg as they are displayed by the rulers. Unfortunately, almost nobody seems to test this or give any feedback. I would appreciate to hear your opinion or have people test the patch. Hello! My name is Catalin Ramascanu and I am interested in joining Inkscape for this years edition of Google Summer of Code. I am a second year student at the Faculty of Automatics and Computer Science from Bucharest, Romania and I have been using Inkscape for about a month , because currently I am working on a game application for Windows 8.I am really enjoying working with this software and I would really like to make an important contribution to this project. I have read the Inkscape wiki page regarding GSoC 2013 and I am interested in the internal work and performance improvements , specifically the startup time and initialization performance. I have also noticed the slow startup time while working with Inkscape and if it were to be improved , that would be very great. I would like know more information regarding this proposal , why does it take that long to startup and what could the problem be. I am also curios regarding the proposal "Continue C++ification" , could I receive some more information about this idea? I am very familiar with the following programming languages: C , Java , Javascript and can adapt very fast to C++. Thank you very much for your time!

Font-family drop-down menu change.

Hi, I've just checked in code that inserts a list of fonts (and font-fallback lists) that are in a document at the top of the font-family drop-down menu that is in the Text toolbar. The fonts that are in the document are rendered with a blue fill to help distinguish them from the normal list of fonts. If a font is not present on the users system, a red line is drawn on top of the font name. Let me know what you think of this. Tav
