Mac OS X, for reason that evidently were valid when NeXT Step OS was designed, dispatches event to menus at a higher priority than keyboard event processor. So the menu with accelerators "sucks up" the event before it even reaches the GDK (or any other event processor) delegation system. If there are accelerators that overlap with key events , without modifers, they won't be prcessed as regular keyboard events, but as menu accelerator (the 'g' that triggers "Toolgradient" being a good example) . The fix is to modify mac.xml such that all those accelerators that overlap with simple key events are removed. I've done so. I've fixed all cases I was able to find. Let me know if you run into more. b) clipboard exchange with GIMP. The problem is really with GIMP, not Inkscape. Given that GIMP uses the unpatched gtk2+quartz library, it can only import TIFF images from the clipboard. TIFF is not mentioned in the Inkscape Info.plist, thus Inkscape does not export TIFF format to the clipboard. I've modified Info.plist , so now Inkscape and GIMP can talk via TIFF - Inkscape now exports TIFF (among a host of other formats, to the clipboard). Valerio

checkered background rendering mode for transparency?

How hard would this be to draw/implement - even if just for my build ? I'm often making all-white SVG's and wanting to keep the background 100% transparent so that inkscape faithfully renders PNG's would it make sense to include an object attribute that is painted but not rendered like sodipodi:invisible where something like opacity:0 is forced but ignored only by us ? -- Andy

LGM 2013

Hello team, As you probably already know, registration for LGM 2013 is open, and talk proposals can be submitted. The event is taking place on April 10-13 in Madrid. See http://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2013/. LGM used to have a nice attendance by Inkscape team in 2006-2010, but then, AFAIK, things have changed. Has anybody already made up their minds to participate this year? If you did, I'd be happy to publish news and invite community to attend the event, so that they could meet you in person. Hi all, A code snippet from trunk: void srgb_to_linear( double* c ) { if( *c < 0.04045 ) { *c /= 12.92; } else { *c = pow( (*c+0.055)/1.055, 2.4 ); } } Alright, this method should not do a NULL check for performance reasons (I assume). But, shouldn't we use a reference in this case then? To signal clearly that the method does not accept NULL pointers without crashing: void srgb_to_linear( double &c ) { if( c < 0.04045 ) { c /= 12.92; } else { c = pow( (c+0.055)/1.055, 2.4 ); } } I'm trying to reduce the number of crashes due to simple NULL pointer crashes. I find such bugs satisfying to fix because it takes really only 1 minute to locate the bug and 1 minute to fix and commit it, but........ Ciao, Johan

dxf2svg extension

Hi all Upon crawling through the source code for memory related issues, I noticed some serious issues in the dxf2svg code. Modifying the code (at least in entities2elements.cpp) did not result in recompilation and apparently the code has not been looked after for years (see [1]) and was since long excluded from the building system ([2], [3] and [4]). Is there still some purpose for the code or could we drop the dxf2svg extension code from the source tree? Regards K. Drawing to Canvas

I've been digging through the src and have figured a few things out but I am still unclear as to which #include files I need add specifically and what the proper functions to call are. pathv_to_linear_and_cubic_beziers, only to linear?

Is there somewhere in Inkscape a function equivalent to: pathv_to_linear_and_cubic_beziers() which only outputs a polyline/polygon instead of a polybezier?
