Font dialog mis-match

In SVN 27277 (Gentoo Linux) there is still the problem that some font styles are selectable in the dialog box but do not display in the actual text object. To see this in action, one needs a font like Helvetica Neue installed: 1. Select "Thin" as the style; the sample changes to something that looks pretty much like a thin version of the font. 2. Click on "Apply"; the style changes to "Ultra-light", the sample display changes to this new style, as does the actual on-the-page text object. 3. Re-select "Thin"; the example text changes once more to the thin style. 4. Re-apply; the dialog box ignores this, apparently thinking that this is the style already in use. The sample text remains thin but the text object is not changed. 5. Close dialog. 6. Re-open the dialog (keeping the text object selected); the style is listed as "Ultra-Light" but we appear to be back at the state represented by point 3, not that represented by step 1. That's about all I've got and it is font-dependant in that the styles available differ from font to font, so for Futura the issue shows up for the style Medium (which changes to Bold on application), while Frutiger switches Ultra-heavy to just plain Heavy. The really odd bit is that the font dialog has no obvious problem displaying these styles. TWW

String freeze?

Hi, Could we declare string freeze now? It would be nice to let some time (at least a full week) to the translators to finish their translations before 0.47 is released. There are still things to do in the tutorials (but I consider that they are now frozen) and the interface (due to very recent string changes in knotholder and extensions), and some translators are really eager to finish it soon... Mac OS X: Inkscape crashes after aqua version compiled?

Hello, last two days I can no longer make my inkscape X11 run. I compiled an inkscape aqua, which runs quite nice, but now when launching inkscape X11 - bang! - I'm quite sure I hat some days with a co-existance of both versions - maybe it occurred since the update to macports 1.8.1 ? Did inkscape aqua change preferences which make the X11 version crash now? I do attach the crashreporter log and will be happy to proviede further information. (Mac OS X 10.4.11, G4 PPC) Greetings, Wolf

Paths and file extensions in save dialogs

Hi all, as of rev. 22010 the "Save as ..." and "Save a copy ..." dialogs should now remember the last used directories and file extensions independently of each other (this closes at least LP #184655, #386292, and perhaps even a few more, I haven't checked yet). It took me a while to understand how the different OS-specific file dialogs are implemented, and I hope I got it right. But please test extensively and let me know if there are any problems. This particularly applies to Windows users since I cannot test the changes there. Thanks, Max P.S.: I believe the export dialog doesn't remember its own path yet althouth I modified some parts in the corresponding source files, too. But it just occurred to me that there is an #ifdef in file.cpp to choose between different types of export dialogs, so I probably modified the wrong part. Anyway, my question is: Is it desired to store the path in the Export dialog at all, at least for the Page and Drawing tabs?

Hello! I'm new to the community, and am excited to contribute what I can. I am a set desigener by training and trade, and not a programmer, but I am training my self in that regard. I'm coming from a place of frustration: My industry has a rich tradition of hand drafting and hand rendering which is gradually adobting the use of software in preference to water color etc. We are spending WAY to much money on software wich never does what we need it to do in the first place. I'm hoping to contribute what I can to bring the tradition ofhand rendering and drafting of set design to this project. I'm really thrilled about being able to see a problem, work on a solution and then get it out there for others. I am of course going to do all the searching I can do to find if other projects along these lines are in progress, but I've listed a few I'm interested in. If you know people working on them already, would you mind pointing me towards them? DXF - SVG Conversion tools DWG - SVG Conversion tools MCD - SVG Conversion tools Saving user defined paper sizes either to the system memory or a separate user preference file. Template system. Work space / Layout space system [using viewing areas to view geometry in the workspace / other files in a layout and generating a SVG to reflect either that reality or a vector representation of the result. Drawing to Scale Drawing in full and adjusting annotation to represent the scale relative to the 'printed' product Exploring database links to SVG geometry to allow dynamic update from SVG -> Database and Database -> SVG [native system for adjusting the parameters of an object and having those chagnes reflected in the visual aspects of the object.] Nothing too ambitious... It's already fixed. A patch to fix snapping of bitmap pixels to grids made this happen, but that patch was already reverted and it's fixed. I reported the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437384. You should try with a newer build. Gez.

Bitmap oversampling broken in Inkscape-0.47pre3-2.LEOPARD+ ?

Hello all, My name is Jens Persson and I've been using Inkscape a lot the last three years, both on PC and Mac, mainly for mobile application GUI design, and I'm always waiting for the next release. The 0.47pre3 for Leopard suddenly doesn't do any interpolation of imported bitmap images any more, so I had to switch back to 0.47pre2. Can anyone else confirm this problem and if it is being dealt with? (e.g. try rotating an imported png image, jaggy nearest neighbour no matter what you set the "Oversample bitmap" to). I could not find any mention of it in the bug tracker. Kind Regards, Jens Persson

SVG Color 1.2

Finally!!!! SVG 1.2 color stuff is out in the wild. (Well, specs at least) "...The implication of this is that it is possible to use a fully colormanaged workflow (using SVG 1.0 onwards) that supports a full CMYK pipeline via the use of ICC profiles." "...SVG Color introduces the ability to use so-called 'named' or 'spot' colors.
