LGM 2010 - Vote on proposal

Hi, Several location were mentioned for LGM 2010, but only one has lead to a formal proposition. After the few mails we have read on this list, we now propose that we have a vote if we accept it or not. LGM would take place in Brussels, May 6-9 2010, hosted by the local non-profit organisation Constant, represented by Femke Snelting. The details of this proposal and the discussions around it have all been posted on the Create Mailing List. So, before announcing this officially, we need a clear support from the LGM participating teams. I was fixing the bug about the svg version attribute not always being written, and came across two issues. The first is minor, but the second is one for a bit of collaboration. First is that I found our default version we've been adding is "1.0". Thus we end up with <svg = "1.0", whereas it really needed to be updated to "1.1". That bit of code has not been touched since Mental first imported things, so I'm very sure it is just an oversight. The second is that we are still adding this to every file: sodipodi:version="0.32" Is it safe to remove that now? I'm pretty sure we don't need to keep compatibility with SodiPodi anymore. I'd like to be about to clean up our use of the "sodipodi" namespace altogether... but that is really a large and involved task and most likely not one for now.

UC 1.1.4 is out

Hi, UniConvertor 1.1.4 is out and among other things (PLT importer/exporter, which is useful to plotters users among our users) it features win32 build with VisualStudio 2008 which specifically addresses some of Inkscape's concerns :) It would be great if our Win packagers started using 1.1.4 from now on. Do you want me to create .inx for PLT? Alexandre

multiple desktop use cases

Do you ever use multiple Inkscape windows simultaneously (or know people that do?) If so, how, and under what circumstances? I am working on an Inkscape scripting API through GSoC and am trying to decide how to abstract the desktop concept. I would like to do this for two reasons. One, if it is not at least partially hidden virtually every method would need a desktop argument, incresing complexity without much tradoff in terms of flexibility. Two, the concept is not one that I think script writers should need to worry about and the terminoligy only makes it more confusing for the uninitiated. Of course I'm not everyone and so I want to get opinions on how working with multiple desktops simultaniously is useful for people so I can figure out how much functionality to expose. When I have a draft layout of the API finished (soon) I will ask for more general feedback on use cases people feel are not supported. Thank you for your feedback, -Soren Berg

fenv.h, fmin, fmax

Using inkscape-21256 snapshot (because release version has bug causing core dump when attempting to change fill color as reported numerous times). src/display/nr-arena-shape.cpp has #include <fenv.h> But I don't see any use of floating-point definitions, FE* macros, or fe*() functions. I commented that line out and inkscape built fine. (Also some platforms don't have any fenv.h.) Also src/live_effects/lpe-dynastroke.cpp uses fmin and fmax. Some platforms don't have that. So I added to src/live_effects/lpe-dynastroke.cpp : #define fmin(a,b) ((a)<(b)?(a):(b)) #define fmax(a,b) ((a)>(b)?(a):(b)) Also work/inkscape-21256/src/display/nr-filter.cpp refers to fmax but it is commented out.
