Hi all! After some discussions at the hackfest we came up with an updated release plan, for a release early september: - As soon as possible: 1.0~alpha2 - Between mid-june and end of june (when toolbar and immediately noticeable bugs are fixed): 1.0~beta - End of June: Feature freeze and 1.0 branch - End of July: String freeze - Between mid-june and mid-august: bug hunt! Hackfest dinner in Saarbrücken

Hello, on Tuesday, 28th of Mai, the hackfest dinner is planned. I was asked to find some places where to go and came up with the following selection: - a typical local place with local food and good beer: http://www.der-stiefel.de/ - Mexican food: https://www.cafe-especial.com/ There are a ton of other places in that area of the city, but I'd suggest the Stiefel. If you want me to book a table for about 15 people I need to know soon. I'd also need to know a time, maybe 19:30 or 20:00? Tobias

Issue #195 proposed patch review request

Hi everyone, I've been looking at this issue for a while, and i believe i found a way to resolve it. I've posted a patch file in the Issue ticket ( https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/issues/195 ). It's a fairly simple fix, but i was wondering if someone could have a look at it, and maybe give some feedback in case something is not right. Thank you Guiu Rocafort

Mailman3 rollout plan

In 2 weeks I'd like to complete the mailing list transition. That timeframe should put us past the hackfest and the June team meetings, so should be a minimal chance of project disruption. If no one raises an objection, I'll send out notices[1] to each list of the pending move this Monday evening. https://lists.inkscape.org is up and ready for use now - subscribe early if you'd like. On the transition day (Saturday, June 8th), I'll run the archives importer, send out the final move notices, and close the sourceforge mailing lists. Editing elliptical arc segments in paths

Hi All, I wrote a new feature for inkscape a while ago (3 years ago) but never got it upstreamed, partly because it had some obvious bugs. Recently I wanted to use this feature again so decided to fix the code and bring it up to date with the latest code base. I have now fixed the bugs I found previously. The code is much closer to a state where it could be upstreamed, but likely it will need some tweaks for usability. The most notable differences are; - Arc segments now get a pair of handles at right angles to each other, to manipulate the two radii of the ellipse and the rotation of the ellipse. - Arc segments are no longer automatically converted to beziers upon editing a path - Arc segments can be converted to beziers using the "make segments smooth" button - Dragging the line of an arc segment will not manipulate the segment like it will if the segment is a line or a bezier (and therefore not all segments can be dragged, whereas they could before) (maybe a different behaviour is desired here) - The arc flags (the large flag and sweep flag) can be set using new buttons in the node toolbar I'm still a new contributor, so let me know what I should do next. I guess I need to create a merge request on gitlab? Thanks. Dan. hello hackfesters, enjoy your time in saarbruecken (can't get an umlaut in this text editor, sorry). wish i could be there to experience the dinner and your company. i have been following and using inkscape since i was made aware over a decade ago of open source software. i work primarily on a mac now. i am looking forward very much to the next mac version. i currently run valerio's github version. love it! loads faster than the "official" version did. keep up the good work! have a great time and be safe. greetings, dwain

Location and start of SB hackfest

Hello again, the Saarbrücken hackfest is approaching fast. On Monday, 27th, I will be there at 09:00 o'clock, from then on the doors will be open and everyone is free to come. The address is Ufergasse 2 66111 Saarbrücken It's a kind of hidden door between a casino and an adult video store, just step close to it and it will open on its own. There is a lift in the far right corner of the entrance room, or you can take the stairs on the right. The office is in the 2nd floor (German counting, Americans would call it the 3rd floor). The button in the lift says, among others, "2" (duh), "U2 Raum" and "K8 gGmbH". I will add some photos to the wiki page later. In case someone wants to get into the office on Sunday already, just ping me and I can arrange something. For those that are in the city on Sunday and don't know what to do, I'd suggest going for a drink in the evening. Tobias PS: If anyone needs any help or information regarding the hackfest, traveling in Germany or local customs I am sure I can help.
