SVN error

Hi All, I'm trying to build an inkscape project by importing the inkscape SVN repository. Everything goes along fine until I get to xml-tree.cpp and I get an error. I've tried it with various SVN clients in Win XP and Linux (Fedora). I've been able to do this about a week ago. Can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can give. ... Mouse Location

Hi all! I'm playing with a little accelerometer and I want to see how well I can get it to work in Inkscape so that it would replace the mouse. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where exactly the mouse location is read? I am literally going to plug code to read this accelerometer there instead. Clearly, this is not work that will be usable in Inkscape! Just for fun :) Thanks, Gail

Compiling on Linux

my apologies for cross-posting but I wasn't getting any response in Inkscape-User so I thought I might have posted to the wrong list. I tried to install the latest autopackage of Inkscape but it seems my glibc is too old (Requires GLIBC_2.4 - I have GLIBC_2.3.6 ... is it possible to release a GLIBC_2.3.6 autopackage?) and the package suggested I install from sources. When I try to compile the source, i get an error - ui/dialog/ocaldialogs.h:247: error: expected class-name before '{' token ui/dialog/ocaldialogs.h: In constructor 'Inkscape::UI::Dialog::FileListViewText::FileListViewText(guint, Inkscape::UI::Dialog::SVGPreview&, Gtk::Label&, Gtk::Button&)': ui/dialog/ocaldialogs.h:250: error: class 'Inkscape::UI::Dialog::FileListViewText' does not have any field named 'ListViewText' I use Debian Etch (stable) so it seems compiling myself is my best option but I have tried with about 5 different source packages and the result is always the same (the package which created this error was 16060 but it is still there in 16148). Failing compile with 2geom/path.h

Hi, I have recently been unable to compile Inkscape on Linux because of a compile failure in nodepath.cpp. It exhibits the same failure, even when I checkout an older version that used to compile for me! Using multi-path objects with the "Pattern along path" or "path along path" effects

Currently, only a single path can be placed along the path in a single instance of the effect. Will either effect ever be able to place an object (with multiple paths) along a path? Perhaps even turned into a stroke style??? The reason I ask is that it would be very nice to be able to create brushes (objects with multiple paths) that could be placed along a path. Here is an example of what I am talking about... http://soundnvision.homestead.com/files/brush_along_path.png The steps required to make the various shades of my example brush follow a single path is very time consuming. After I trace the bitmap, I need to include a bounding rectangle with each object that makes up the different shades of the brush so that each element is placed relative to all other elements along the same path. Then, each element is placed along the path separately. You can't edit the original path and have ALL of the elements respond accordingly. Therefore, you must start the process all over again if you don't have the original path placed exactly as as you need based on your brush shape. Best case scenario... this effect becomes a stroke style that can be applied to any object (i.e. rectangles, ellipses, text, spirals, etc.), not just path objects. The only other place I've ever seen this type of tool is in Microsoft Expression. Inkscape's path effect comes close, but doesn't quite hit the mark. - Tony

student project : distortion envelope tool

Hello, It is now official for the administration of our school, we are starting working on the "distortion envelope tool" at the end of december. Our official "tutor" from the dev team is Johan Engelen. The school is only interested in observing how we manage to organize our project alone and if we meet the requirements. I'll be the project leader, we are 6 in the team and we will be working for 5 months. (from 4 to 8 hours a week) We are before all inkscape users and we are very exited to build something for it. The goals are : - create the distortion tool engine for paths (using lib2geom, and path effects) - create the tool's UI - extend path effects to groups for the distortion tool and others (path along path for example) Of course : - SVG compliant - The original object is saved. If the project goes well, the goals could be extended. We'll see with Johan. (nb : Yesterday, I was thinking about path effect on clones, path effect on texts...) Bye, Steren
