CC your answer to the submitter name: Dirk Rensink email: dirk.rensink@...1391... submitted the following: Hello together, I downloaded the Inkscape 0.44 Windows executable last week and installed it without any problems. Today I switched on my computer and after some minutes I got a warning message from my antivirus software (Norton Antivirus 2006) that it found the trojan Trojan.Zlob in the 0.44-exe and that it was deleted. After checking the Norotn virus database I found none of the registry entries and none of the files the trojan creates. Now I cannot even download the exe any more since Norton insists in finding this trojan. Although I suspect that this is a false alarm: Could you please check the Windows executables? Are there any other users which report the same infection with other antivirus software? I will now initiate a complete system scan and will let you know the results. Thanks for your response. OS X dev builds again

Hi all, Thank you very much for 0.44 which is brilliant. Now that I am back from no-internet-land I restarted the process of producing dev builds of Inkscape for OS X. A new build is there: http://inkscape.modevia.com/macosx-snap/Inkscape_20060629.dmg I changed the background image color to match the green color of the new website (which is great too... even if I think that blue fitted better to Inkscape that green ;-) ) and thought about how to represent the installation procedure in an international manner (see thread http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=15481499 ). In the end I stayed with my initial approach (i.e. a link to / Applications on which Inkscape Icon can be dragged) because: - the only text present is "internationalized" by the system itself - I read somewhere that even if OS X app bundles can be executed from anywhere on the disk, they are registered and really integrated into the system only if they are in /Applications (there is a startup job which looks into /Applications and registers new ones). Therefore, / Applications is really the place where to put them - it eases very much the installation procedure (= 1 drag and drop) The next problem of the user is to find out where is Inkscape once he dragged it onto the "Applications" link which I don't think is much of a problem because: - there is a link to /Applications with the same icon that in the .dmg on the left of every Finder window by default - it is a common procedure to put applications in /Applications :-) - starting from OS X Tiger a spotlight search will show Inkscape and, actually, all people I have seen using Tiger never navigate to Applications again but use Spotlight as a launcher - this is something that is likely to be even "more true" in the long run with spotlight taking more and more importance in the way the Finder operates (in 10.5 Leopard, the navigation in the Finder is going to be largely based on spotlight searches) I hope this is OK with everybody. As the .info.txt file mentions, this build is without Inkboard support because loudmouth is still not in Fink. Michael can you upload your Fink package somewhere so that I (and maybe other OS X compilers) can use it? Do you think it can go in the wiki page? Thank you in advance. Inkscape performance

Hello! I've been trying inkscape 0.44 some days in my work. My job is web designer and (sometimes) graphical designer. One thing i've observed during my work with inkscape is that the performace is lower than 0.43. When inkscape is open during more than 1 hour (aprox.) the drawing of vectors (and dialogs too) is too slow, sometimes dialogs appears without controls too. Then a restart is needed. I've installed inkscape from the .package in sourceforge homepage, and i use debian. ¿ Has anybody noticed this issue or is only a personal configuration problem ? ¿ There is something i can do to avoid this problem (installa some library, delete some files, compile from the source, ...) ? Trojan in Win32 binary?

Symantec Anti-virus is detecting Trojan.Zlob in Inkscape-0.44-1.win32.exe and also in uninst.exe once Inkscape is installed. I guess it has to do with a current update of the virus definitions because when I originally downloaded and installed Inkscape no virus was detected, however redownloading the binary immediately triggers the on-access scanner. I hope this is a false positive, but I would appreciate this if you would investigate this. And may I suggest pulling the binary from Sourceforge in the meantime to prevent possible inflections? So I was fighting with the Xfixes dependency in the Autopackage. Do the INKSCAPE_LIBS or LIKSCAPE_CFLAGS variables work like ./configure --help says they do? Even though I set and export them different values continue to end un in the Makefile. Aaron Spike

In the latest SourceForge.net site-wide email, Inkscape is rated as the second top project for the last two-month period. Also, it's number one for some days now in activity, in the current statistics page. Due to the 0.44 release, it has surpassed many other famous projects. Congratulations to all! - Spyros Blanas

J-o, I have, for a long time, been wondering about the correctness of the "A full unstable fink installation" which occurs on our CompilingMacOsX page. I was under the impression that a full unstable installation of fink would be 'dogfood' and only be needed be fink devs. Certainly, I have fink stable and have merely added the necessary packages from unstable as I needed them. I am certainly not going to suggest changing the wiki on a whim, but if there is some definite reason why my approach was inferior, I would most seriously consider changing it. Ben

Can't compile, can't find libgc

When I try to configure Inkscape 0.44, I get a message: checking gc.h usability... yes checking gc.h presence... yes checking for gc.h... yes checking for GC_init in -lgc... yes checking libgc version 6.4+... 6.3.255 no configure: error: libgc (the Boehm Conservative Collector) 6.4+, is needed to compile inkscape -- http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Hans_Boehm/gc I have libgc 6.7 installed, so I'm not certain why Inkscape doesn't like it.
