Hi, List of problems I found + questions I have concerning UI strings: unlocalizable strings --------------------- color names on the palette and in color picker status messages "curve handle, symmetric" "curve segment" "line segment" (when drawing Bezier) "Fill:" "Stroke:" (Inkscape settings/pencil, plus on the tool control bar's status display) should be disambiguated (same string, different meaning) -------------------------------------------------------- src/widgets/toolbox.cpp: GtkWidget *hb = sp_tb_spinbutton(_("H:"), _("Height of rectangle"), src/ui/dialog/align-and-distribute.cpp: /* TRANSLATORS: Horizontal gap */ removeOverlapXGapLabel.set_label(_("H:")); at one location, "H" is "height", at another, it's "horizontal" "Unset fill" #: ../src/ui/widget/selected-style.cpp:162 #: ../src/ui/widget/selected-style.cpp:220 #: ../src/ui/widget/style-swatch.cpp:305 somewhere it's an adjective (status msg), somewhere a verb (menu) problems -------- "Use <b>Edit > Object(s) to Pattern</b> to create a new pattern from selection." there's no such menu item Transform dialog, Matrix tab: "_Apply" conflicts with "_A". bugs repro for 1499971 and 1497837

Can anyone out there repro either of these problems? One is the libgc-6.7 problem, the other is with the libsmooth theme engine. I *think* it would be helpful to at least warn on these conditions. For the libgc problem, my guess is that a call to gettext() would return null. If anyone can verify the problem and then at least verify that we can detect it by gettext's misbehavior, that would be handy. For the problem with the engine, I *think* we might be able to detect it if we can query for some known module name. Using the gtk_rc_find_module_in_path function might do the trick.

inkscape fails with FT221
